Hi, I'm Mei and I'm a creative mender. I became interested in visible mending on garments through the concept of kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing ceramics. With kintsugi, gold lacquer is used to highlight the breakage rather than disguise it, thus inviting us to accept the damage as part of the object's history as well as its beauty. Isn't that beautiful? I believe the same can be applied to our garments.

Why throw something away when a hole appears? Why not creatively repair it and add your own stamp to it?

I hold regular mending workshops in the Ruislip area and I also take mending commissions.

I believe anyone can mend garments - it's just a matter of sitting down and having a go. What's the worse that can happen? The garment already has a hole in it!
