• 5/5 from Susan Jones, attended Jul 2026: Sophia, the teacher was lovely! Very patient and I was so pleased that she tailored this class to my needs. I know the basic knit and purl stitches and am always amazed at the lovely patterns they make when used in different combinations. So I went with some basic garter stitches on needles as starting points and Sophia showed me how to yf, yb, yo, KB1, PB1, amongst other things and I practiced those in class. Probably simple things for more practiced knitters but for me it's brilliant to know. I have more choice of stitch designs now when making my blankets for Battersea Cats & Dogs Home. Thank you Sophia, a highly recommended class and teacher!!
• 5/5 from Paulina, attended Aug 2025: Before I commence with the review, I will preface with a small intro. I had brought a single mystery dpn (from a set purchased at a charity shop) into the studio in the event they had a needle guide onsite to check for what size it was. With this, the instructor correctly sensed I enjoyed working with dpns; and issued me two to work with for the session. This personal touch meant I was able to learn with tools I felt at home with; and this meant a lot to me. Now the review. This session was a prime example of why in-person learning just so completely beats reading instructional books, and watching, and rewatching, demonstration and tutorial videos on the internet. The instructor not only was a dedicated professional at her craft, but also extremely knowledgeable about yarn and yarncraft tradition. Before any technical hands-on work commenced, she explained the characteristics of man-made vs. wool fibers and the nature of knitted fabric. We then explored working conventional stitches, in a supplied yarn of our choosing, in non-conventional ways, before learning the techniques outlined in the session curriculum. Doing this controlled experiment has changed how I knit and purl now, as I understand different ways stitches behave, which is most useful in everyday practice; however, what made the morning absolutely transcendent for me was the rare opportunity to work with pure untreated handspun yarn, spun onsite at the studio. It is a sensation and experience I will never forget; and has transformed how I shop for, and work with, any yarn now.

There are not many knitting classes that allow you to purposely "get it wrong" so that they can teach you how to correct it and make it right. It felt freeing. And to be able to have someone knowledgeable to help me "read" my knitting is something very unique, if you are a relative beginner. Sophia was patient and gave us the space and to really understand our stitches, how they are formed and how to understand how they correlate together. Excellent, excellent class.
