Learn to knit reversible colourwork with clean edges and no "wrong" side in this workshop, where you'll master the double-sided knitting technique and watch it come together in front of you, stitch by stitch.
Double-sided knitting (also known as double knitting) is a wonderfully clever structural technique that produces two layers of fabric at once, each showing a mirrored version of the same design in reverse colours. The result is a beautifully dense, double-thickness fabric with genuinely no "wrong" side – flip it over and you'll find just as polished a finish looking back at you. It's a technique that rewards patience and precision, and one that opens up a whole new way of thinking about colour, pattern and structure in your knitting.
You'll be guided step by step through the full process, building your skills and confidence as you go:
  • Cast on and set up correctly for double-sided knitting, so your fabric grows evenly from the very first row
  • Work two colours together in a mirrored, fully reversible design, developing the rhythm and coordination the technique relies on
  • Keep your edges tidy and your tension even throughout – the details that separate a good result from a great one
  • Bind off with a neat, matching finish that does justice to all the careful work that's come before it
Along the way, you'll build an understanding of why this technique works the way it does, so you're equipped to adapt it to your own future projects, whether that's a cosy scarf, a snuggly blanket, or anything else that calls for a fabric with two beautiful sides.
This workshop is designed for confident knitters who are comfortable with the basics and ready to take on a more structured, technical challenge. You'll leave with a new skill in your toolkit, a stronger grasp of colourwork construction, and the confidence to bring double-sided knitting into your own projects long after the class ends.
