Recent reviews of Private Rug Tufting Class
5/5 from Zoe Olawore, attended Sep 2026: I booked the class for my boyfriend’s birthday and this was nothing short of amazing. Gokcen was so patient and guided us through our designs from start to finish. My boyfriend and I have been to several classes and we both agree that this is the best we’ve been to. I could not recommend her enough.
5/5 from Denise Dove, attended Jul 2026: My granddaughter asked to do a tufting lesson. It has turned out to be the most wonderful experience for us both. I can’t recommend it highly enough. A 5 star afternoon.

5/5 from Richsamuel Manso, attended Apr 2026: Gocken was such an amazing tufting teacher, I really loved the whole experience. From the moment we arrived, everything felt calm and welcoming. The space is in a quiet, chilled neighbourhood, which made it feel really private and peaceful. Gocken is so kind, patient, and easy to learn from. She explains everything clearly and makes you feel comfortable, even if you’ve never done anything creative before. There’s no pressure at all, just a really nice environment to enjoy the process and create something at your own pace. It’s the perfect activity to do with a friend or someone dear to you, something different but really meaningful. And the best part is leaving with something you made yourself. Such a lovely, fulfilling experience for both creatives and non-creatives. I would definitely recommend. IT WAS LIT!!

I'd never tried anything like it before and was a little hesitant, but Gökçen, the instructor, was so sweet and helpful that I immediately felt comfortable. The process of creating my own piece was so much fun, and the final result exceeded my expectations! While I can't share the details of the design just yet, it's a piece I'm working on for a future exhibition. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who wants to have fun and create something unique!

Hello! I'm Gökçen Ataman Tanyer, a sculptor originally from Istanbul. In 2020, I was honoured to receive the Sustainable Art Prize, which led to my endorsement as a Global Talent in Fine Arts. Three years ago, I moved to the UK with my family and our senior rescue golden retriever, Pamuk. I've always loved this country and am delighted to now call it home.I recently opened my studio, The Messy Table, a cosy creative space at Portland Road Studios in the heart of Kingston upon Thames, just around the corner from Kingston Art School. The Messy Table is all about bringing people together through creativity. I offer a range of hands-on workshops, including tufting, punch needle, polymer clay jewellery, painting, epoxy art, and other seasonal creative experiences.Looking for something special? I also host bespoke private events for hen parties, birthdays, baby showers, team-building days, family gatherings, and other celebrations. Workshops can be tailored to suit your group, whether you'd like to make jewellery, create artwork, or try another creative activity together.I can host groups of up to 8 people in my studio or travel to your chosen venue for larger groups. If you have a custom idea in mind, just send me a message and I'd be happy to create a workshop especially for you.My studio is still very new, so in many ways I feel like I'm learning alongside my participants. Every workshop is relaxed, welcoming, and filled with creativity, conversation, tea, coffee, and sometimes a visit from Pamuk, my 12-year-old rescue golden retriever, who loves being part of the creative atmosphere.I'd love to welcome you to The Messy Table and help you create a memorable experience while making something beautiful by hand.
