In this engaging experimental tapestry weaving class in London, you’ll explore the ancient art of weaving through a contemporary lens, creating your own unique textile from scratch. Working on a simple frame loom, you’ll experiment with materials, texture, and pattern to produce a beautiful woven piece to take home and proudly display.
If you’re new to weaving, you’re very welcome here! This class is fully guided, relaxed, and designed to help you feel comfortable from the very start. Everything is explained step by step, with plenty of encouragement and space to experiment. If you have a bit of knowledge, you'll benefit from more tips, tricks and stitches to keep you inspired in this meditative craft.
What to expect:
  • Learn the basics stitches of frame loom weaving (plain weave, soumak, random weaving)
  • How to warp your loom and how to finish your piece off.
  • Experiment with a variety of materials and textures.
  • Explore decorative stitches and introductory tapestry techniques.
  • Take a playful, experimental approach rather than strict traditional rules.
  • Work in a calm, supportive, and creative environment.
  • Create a finished woven piece to take home!
  • Work with a variety of fibres and materials, some of them hand dyed with natural dyes by me.
The class lasts 4hs in total including 30mins lunch break. You could take an additional brake if needed.
By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a handmade woven artwork, a sense of calm from the meditative rhythm of weaving, and the confidence to continue exploring this versatile craft in your own time. It’s a soothing, creative experience that’s as much about the process as the finished piece.

Yes please! Weaving is a slow craft technique that takes sometime to grasp. For this class to be ore effective, we will work morning and afternoon, with an hour lunch break. There are a few restaurants nearby, however I'd recommend you to bring a packed lunch.
Could I bring my own materials to work with?
Materials will be included, however, you're more than welcome to bring your own yarn, fabric scraps or anything you feel might be 'weavable' to work with.

I am a visual artist and arts educator working with colour, textiles, minerals, clay, seeds, flowers and pigments that I carefully gather from plants around me and nearby.
I specialise in sustainable wellbeing workshops and creative mindful sessions for community groups, CPD and staff training for small companies and institutions.
I have been working with natural dyes since 2019 and have an extensive experience planning and delivering creative and engaging sustainable workshops for people of all ages and many backgrounds.
I see these experiences as tools for learning but also for grounding and reflection that aim to connect with ourselves and with others in a supportive, non judgemental safe space. Interested in mental health and wellbeing, I nurture environments where people can reach a deeper level of understanding of their feelings and emotions, allowing time for play and exploration with a focus on the process of making and collective learning.
