Hi, I'm Lulu, a textile designer, creative facilitator, and founder of my own creative business Lulujoelle
Creativity has been at the heart of my life for over 28 years. I hold a First-Class Degree in Printed Textile and Surface Decoration and have spent nearly three decades developing expertise in textiles, surface design, dyeing techniques, botanical art, and creative making. For more than 22 years, I've been teaching workshops, helping people discover confidence through creativity.
Over the years, I've delivered workshops for organisations including Google, American Express, and the Southbank Centre, as well as major festivals such as Camp Wildfire and Elderflower Fields. I've worked with adults, children, families, community groups, and people with additional needs, creating welcoming spaces where everyone can take part.
Alongside my textile practice, I have many years of experience in floral and botanical design, including flower crowns, pressed flower art, and floristry-inspired workshops. These skills began during my university studies and continue to be an important part of my creative work today.
What many people don't know about me is that I'm severely dyslexic. Throughout my career I've learned to embrace thinking differently and to see creativity from a unique perspective. Building my business, raising a family, and developing a successful creative career has taken resilience, determination, and a lot of hard work, but it has also taught me that there is rarely one "right" way to do things.
That belief sits at the heart of every workshop I teach.
My mantra is simple:
Find your inner child and play.
I believe creativity should be joyful, not intimidating. So many people arrive at a workshop worried about making mistakes or believing they're "not creative." My goal is to help people let go of perfectionism, enjoy the process, and reconnect with the freedom and curiosity we all had as children.
There are no rules, no right or wrong answers, and no pressure to be perfect. Whether you're creating a flower crown, a pressed flower frame, experimenting with textiles, or trying something completely new, my workshops are designed to leave you feeling inspired, confident, and proud of what you've created.
After nearly three decades in the creative industry, I still love seeing that moment when someone realises they are more creative than they ever thought possible. That's why I teach, and it's why I continue to share my skills with others.
