What you'll do

Join this children's bundle dyeing workshop in London, a playful and beginner-friendly environment where kids, family and friends will have the best time creating cotton bandanas using flowers, leaves, seeds, and other botanicals. You'll learn the art of bundle dyeing in an atmosphere designed to be gentle, safe and very enjoyable for everyone.

During this relaxed and sustainable workshop, you'll be guided on how to select natural materials and explore different techniques to create unique and unexpected patterns. Working with vibrant dyes and eco-friendly materials, you'll see stunning results as you engage in a process that's both soothing and meditative. It's a lovely way to unwind and enjoy some quality time together while getting hands-on with nature.

In this class, you'll:

Select your botanicals: Choose from a variety of fresh and dried flowers, leaves, and seeds to create your palette.
Master bundle dyeing: Learn the specific techniques required to transfer natural pigments onto petterned fabric.
Explore how to fold and tie your bandana for different visual effects.

By the end of the session, you'll have gained a wonderful new skill and a bespoke bandana imbued with your personal touch. You'll leave with a beautiful, wearable memory that serves as a heartfelt keepsake of your day together.

Venue

I come to your venue (within 5 miles of Wapping), set everything up, and leave you with nothing to organise except showing up. All materials and tools included.

What you'll get

You will go home with a naturally hand-dyed (by you) and hand-sewn cotton bandana, 40cm by 40cm, plus a lot of tips and tricks on bundle dyeing. :)

Knowledge required

No previous knowledge is required! Just come with curiosity and playfulness :)

What to bring

Materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring some fresh or dried leaves and flowers from your local park or garden to bundle dye with. I would recommend French marigolds, cosmos, dark roses, sumac flowers, geraniums, or pansies. Onion skins are also a great option, and no worries, your end result scarf won’t be smelly, I promise!

Please bring a small plastic bag to take your bandana home.

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 6 years old).

An adult must accompany any attending kids, and must pay for a separate ticket.
