Repeating Patterns

Repeating Patterns

As you start imagining your design, Emily will share simple techniques for creating lino blocks that repeat or layer beautifully with different colours.

Design and Carve

Design and Carve

Learn the essentials of safe lino carving as you design two stamps of your own. With paper and carbon transfer provided, you can sketch, play, and experiment before committing to the block.

Print!

Print

With your carving complete, head to the print station at your own pace. Mix your chosen colours, practice on newsprint, then print your design onto beautiful Fabriano paper

In this 3-hour workshop, you’ll be guided through the creative and satisfying process of lino block printing – from initial idea to final print.
We’ll start by exploring different approaches to designing lino blocks, with a special focus on how to create satisfying repeat patterns. Whether you’re drawn to bold shapes, intricate detail, or abstract motifs, you’ll learn how to turn your ideas into printable designs.
Then it’s time to carve! You’ll be shown the basics of lino cutting – from using the tools safely to achieving clean, confident lines.
Each participant will design, carve, and print two 7.5 x 7.5 cm lino blocks of their own. We’ll print your blocks onto paper during the session, and you’ll leave with your carved blocks, your prints, and a handy pamphlet explaining how to repeat and combine your designs in future projects.
Best of all, your lino blocks can be used again and again – on paper or fabric (with the right inks) – and we’ll talk through ideas for how to continue printing at home.
You’ll receive a 56 x 76 cm sheet of 250gsm smooth printing paper to cut and use for your prints. Want to turn your work into bunting? Upgrade to 6 pre-cut large bunting shapes for an extra £5 – perfect for creating your own printed garland.

Hi, we’re Emily and Jess, the creative minds behind Something Good Workshops!
Our journey began in 2019 when Emily launched Something Good Workshops (originally known as MADEptford) as a way to spread crafty joy and raise funds for running the London Marathon. What started as a one-time idea quickly grew into a passion for bringing people together through creativity. Since then, we’ve hosted a wide variety of workshops, from arm knitting to body casting, in all kinds of spaces - corporate offices, cosy pubs, pop-up shops, and even people’s homes.
After taking a short break, we’re back with fresh energy and an exciting new partnership. Jess has joined the team, and together, we’re on a mission to spark joy and empower people to explore their creativity in relaxing, welcoming spaces. We believe there’s something magical about slowing down, working with your hands, and leaving with something you’ve made yourself - whether it’s a chunky knit blanket, a personal shrine, or a collage bursting with personality.
What makes us unique? We’re all about creating an environment where people feel at ease, whether they’re a total beginner or a seasoned maker. Over the years, we’ve held workshops in so many different settings, and one thing always stands out: the joy people feel when they realize just how creative they can be.
We’re not just here to teach a craft - we’re here to help you unwind, have fun, and leave with a tangible reminder that you’re capable of making something good.
We can’t wait to meet you at a workshop soon!
