Tufting is a beginner-friendly DIY hobby that you can pick up and enjoy with the support of your friendly, local teacher. In this unique craft workshop, you will learn how to make your own rug and even help release stress!
In this beginner-friendly tufting workshop, you'll learn the basics needed to create your own rug! You will be shown how to operate a cut-pile electric tufting gun and start tufting to create a personalised 40cmx40cm rug.
You'll be guided step by step through creating fluffy rugs or mirrors that you can take back home on the same day! Just enjoy this relaxing and creative London activity, have the chance to learn some tufting skills and make your own rug to keep.

Well prepared, lots of colours to choose from & high quality equipment to use. It was an informal & relaxed environment. What would have helped were some design tips in advance (e.g. avoid too much fine detail) and some feedback when we sent in our pictures the day before the class. My design was really too intricate to work well but I could have simplified it had I known in advance.

Precision in hand tufting is actually harder than I thought, but she was able to point out any places I've missed to ensure I didn't end up with any bald spots. There are many colours of wool to choose from allowing for all sorts of designs. Mine was random shapes, and even with that I sometimes "coloured outside the lines" We then did the finishing work of ensuring the wool won't come out, and adding a non-slip backing. She shaved it to an even finish, which I appreciate since I would probably have savaged the piece :-) The finished product isn't very big, but its lovely and soft and I'm glad I didn't try a bigger piece for my first rug!
