What you'll do

In a bright and airy workshop seconds from Nine Elms station you’ll find a hidden tufting haven. We have everything you need to create your own fluffy art piece – top of the line tufting guns, over 100 different colours of yarn and the expertise of our resident designers and makers! We believe everyone can create something amazing. All you need is enthusiasm to try something new!

We think that beauty lies in the imperfections, so you won’t find factory-perfect rugs here. Instead, every rug is unique, and handmade by you! Whether you’re looking for some me time, an interesting date idea, a gift with a twist, or the perfect birthday treat, Tufting London offers the right experience for you.

In this workshop, you'll learn how to use a tufting gun and use it to create your chosen design of 40cmx40cm, leaving the workshop with a perfectly finished rug of your very own. All materials are included and our experienced assistants are on hand for anything you need.

Create your own memory with the aid of our team of talented designers and makers in our London-based studio. We’ll help you go home with the rug of your dreams!

Adequate time given, I think everyone did in fact complete their rugs with varying degrees of assistance. Communication before the class by email was clear. The shaving/cleanup step could have been a bit better explained. I'm happy with what I ended up with but I'm not sure if I did that bit right at all.

It was so interesting to see the wide array of designs everyone had chosen. All the rugs were so good and my daughter and I were pleased with our designs and the final rugs. Great for beginners. I definitely want to do this again.

I chose a very complex design so I had to change it on the fly so that I could complete in time but I am very happy with the result! I will say it is a very full on craft so if you have trouble standing for long periods of time or holding a kg weight at chest height for periods of time then you may want to choose a more simple design so you can take breaks. The atmosphere was fun and there was good music to fill in the silence of everyone concentrating on their creations.

Instructions during the class were clear and quick and you get started pretty much straight away which was good as I needed all the time. As I was alone, I could have done with a few more check ups to make sure I was doing it right as it was hard to get help/attention and I did make some mistakes (made it too tight by doing it too close, blended colours accidentally and didnt match my inspo pic carefully enough). I enjoyed the process and seeing all the examples around the room and was glad there was not only a great range of colours but plenty of each as well. When I got some help, they were friendly and patient. My final product, while not great, has left me wanting to try again!

Super excited to have a completely custom rug to take away. There are so many colours to choose from, the important thing is thinking about your design ahead of time!

Top Tip - read the emails, follow the instructions, turn up 5 minutes early, listen and you'll get the best results!

The space was lovely and the teaching was welcoming and fun with of great examples around the place. Everything felt very safe whilst using the equipment. I think a little more time could be spent with each person to go through their design after the initial demonstration, and just a quick check in every now and again. I found the colours came out darker than they looked on the roll so maybe some tufted swatches to help you choose which you will use on your finished product. I may have chosen differently had I known how it would look. We still really enjoyed the process and would not hesitate to do it again!

One of our founders Chun first had his eyes opened to the world of rug making when he visited a factory, but decided that the real excitement lay in the handmade when he turned his 4 year old son’s drawing into a tufted art piece to hang on the wall in his home. The ‘Rainbow Racing Car’ has become a treasured family memento and never fails to bring a smile to Chun’s son’s face!
