Beginners Info:
This workshop is aimed at beginners making their first garment, and we work with standard sizes 4 - 24 or XXS/XS, S/M, L/XL, XXL/ XXXL, depending on the style of dress for that season.
The focus of this workshop is to teach you the dressmaking skills needed to be confident for you to try this at home.
This workshop does not focus on fitting, or made-to-measure garments. We do offer other workshops in these more advanced techniques. Which you will be able to advance to once you have learnt the basics.
It is advised that workshoppers complete the Intro to Sewing workshop beforehand, or have used a sewing machine before. as you will find this workshop easier to manage.

IMPORTANT INFO:
Once you have made a booking, we will send out a size chart for you to select your size from. It is important that you check your emails and spam folder, so you can request a specific size.

It is also advisable to provide a mobile number, should we need to contact you.

If you do not request a specific size by the deadline, you will be able to select a size from our 'reserve rail' on the day. (We can not guarantee your size will be available). We will email you with the size chart and the deadline date for dress size requests.
Please note: We can not prepare dresses on the day, or after the workshop deadline.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Everything is provided in this workshop.

DO I NEED TO PROVIDE INFORMATION BEFORE I ATTEND?
Yes, you will need to provide your dress size, from the size chart we will send out to you. Please note that dressmaking patterns are NOT your retail size. So it advisable that you check the size chart.

DOOR POLICY.
Please note: Doors close 10 minutes after the start time on all workshops.
We do ask our attendees to be on time. As we will not be able to go over missed content, health and safety once missed. We have had an issue with a lot of people all arriving at different times, late, which disrupts the demonstrations and leaves us with less time to teach, and not completing the workshop. Which in turn, leaves us with complaints from people who have arrived on time. So we are very strict with our door closing policy.
Only one reschedule permitted per booking. We do not offer free reschedules or refunds to latecomers, or outside of our cancellation policy.

It was an excellent workshop for something that is really not easy and in fact my final result was not as bad as I thought it would be.
I learnt a lot in one day: about using a sewing machine and the various accessories properly, how to sew a zip really nicely and lots of helpful tips with using patterns.
English being my third language, the technical terms were not easy to understand but Craig showed me what I did not understand and then it was clear.
An excellent workshop where you will learn a lot. Highly recommend it :)

Craig is an excellent teacher. Very experienced and knows his craft. Good value for money. This was my second class with him. I have already booked another class with him as I think he is that good.

The dress making class was very interesting and the teacher guided us through every bits that we needed to know. I had the opportunity to learn new skills like doing invisible zipper and the right way to pin the fabric before sewing and other things that I was not practically doing before. This is a great help for when I'll do my home sewing. All materials are provided for the class and the workshop gives good value for money. This day to me was not time wasted at all. I definitely look forward to attend more classes in the future.
Thanks to Craig for sharing your knowledge.

I had a great day learning the sewing machines and lots of new skills on dress making with Craig. Craig’s was friendly and welcoming throughout the day.

Only downfall of the day was we ran out of time so my dress was not hemmed. This was the one lesson I needed to learn the most so was disappointed there was no ‘run over’ time allowance at the end of the day.

Craig provided everything that was needed for the clas, the sewing part, the advices and also the fun. You get to try the entire dress and you are very autonomous.

The dressmaking class was fantastic, Craig is a really calm and patient teacher. He makes you feel at ease and gives you a lot of tips and in this class explains about patterns and sizing too. At the end of the workshop, I feel able to pursue sewing at home at my leisure.
I am a complete beginner and definitely recommend going to the beginner 2 hour workshop beforehand.
Coming out of the workshop I feel confident in using a sewing machine at home.

I went to this workshop the day after attending the beginners sewing workshop and can’t actually believe I made a dress in a day! Craig is a great teacher and with his tips and tricks I now feel more confident trying to start making clothes following a pattern.

The best sewing lessons ever! The teacher explained every single step including the details and how fix the things that went wrong. The environment is family like and extremely cozy. I recommend this amazing person’s classes to everybody who is interested in starting their adventure with sewing

I have had THE BEST day. I actually made a dress in a day! Thought it was going to be an impossible task given the fact that I haven’t seen anything in decades.

Craig was fabulously patient and didn’t rush anyone. He is super at explaining every step and made the workshop fun and lively.

The class was a good mix of ladies and, luckily, we were all at the same level - absolute beginners. There were loud gasps of “oohs” and “ahhs” as we all unveiled our final shift dresses. Such a sisterhood under one roof. Everyone felt relaxed and I think I speak for all when I say we seemed to enjoy our day.

I now feel confident enough to go forth and sew up a storm. The next step will probably be taking over the spare room as my new walk-in closet! A girl’s gotta house all those outfits, right?
