Guided by your experience printing teacher Holly, you will get some in-depth knowledge of the fabric printing process. This is ideal if you already have some screen printing techniques up your sleeve and you want to learn more.
Both of the workshops can be tailored to what you know, so if you have any printing methods you want to try, let us know at booking and we can include them in the course.
Printing course schedule:
Day one - The morning will start out with design development as you learn the best ways to create artwork for printmaking. You'll also cover colour separation and film printing. The afternoon will involve screen preparation as you learn about coating and exposing. You'll then move on to colour mixing all the binders and print pastes.
Day two - The second and final day is a full day of hands-on printing. You'll get three meters of white cotton and a sample of silk to print on. If you have any suitable fabric of your own, feel free to bring it along. Experiment with speciality inks and interesting processes like foiling, puff, gloss, flock and other dye techniques.
Each day will include an hour's break for lunch. This is a great chance to explore the tasty food kiosks that are in the same building as the printing studio.
