This cooking class is a complete collection of famous and delicious Chinese steamed buns. You will learn to make both sweet and savoury Chinese buns at this London cooking class.

Guided by experienced Chinese cooking teachers Hanna and Simon, you'll enjoy a few hours of fun cooking activities, making meat or vegetable buns and sweet buns. You will be in a spacious shop and small class, often private class in weekdays. You will get full attention from the chefs and all your questions will be answered.

You will make the following buns

  • Meat buns or Veg buns
  • Plain Bao buns or Spring Onion buns
  • Running custard buns or Red Bean buns

During your Chinese Buns cooking class, you'll learn how to:
  • Make bun dough from flour and knead it by hand.
  • Chop mince from raw pork belly or prepare vegetables for the vegetarian version.
  • Make custard paste from egg for a sweet bun filling. If you don't eat egg, you can make red bean paste instead.
  • Make plain buns in two different methods, including making a bao bun, the popular plain buns in many restaurants.
  • Wrap meat buns and sweet buns in two different ways.
  • Cook the buns for the best results.
  • Eat your delicious buns with different homemade sauces, dips and jams.

Enjoy eating your authentic Chinese buns as you go, or bring along some containers and take your buns home with you to eat later.

Allergy information:
  • This class is not suitable for gluten-free diets.
  • Recipes include milk but this can be substituted.
  • Sesame seeds and sesame oil are used for flavouring but this can be left out.
  • Egg in part of the custard bun filling but this can be substituted with red bean paste.
  • Soy in soy sauce for seasoning vegetables and meat fillings but this can be left out.
  • Vegetarians and Vegans can choose vegetable fillings instead meat.

Suitable for

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a team building activity, birthday, hen do or stag do.

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 10 years old). An adult must accompany any attending kids, and must pay for a separate ticket.

This would also be a lovely gift for her, gift for mum, anniversary gift or birthday gift.


Simon Wang is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and adheres to COVID-19 government guidelines. They won't run this class if they've had a continuous cough, a high temperature, or a loss of or change in their normal sense of taste or smell, in the last 14 days.

You can book up to 6 persons in one class. The shop is big enough to give comfort distances between each other. It is well ventilate as well.

No extra charge for private classes to make you comfortable.

We had two jabs and self-tests in weekly basis.

We ask all guests to wear masks unless drink or eat.

Washing facility is free to use all the time.

Free to reschedule if you and close contacts tests positive or showing some symptoms.

We are a wife-and-husband team running a small shop called Oriental Food in North London. Our little shop sells cooking ingredients from China, Japan and Korea – as well as other Asian countries!

As the shop is not big enough to be a one-stop shopping destination, we like to curate the food and ingredients we sell and focus on introducing only the ingredients we love to the local community.

As we both have a passion for cooking and sharing our love of food with others, we started to cook our own dishes to sell in our shop. If customers like the dish, we love showing them the ingredients that have been used from our shop!

As the dishes got increasingly popular, we started to sell freshly prepared Bentos and even started doing local delivery (find us on UberEats and Deliveroo).

More and more people came to us to ask how we cook our dishes and that's how our fun and friendly cooking classes and tasting experiences were born! Come along and let us share with you our authentic cooking techniques as well as modern culinary trends. That's right, you can make the perfect Chinese, Japanese and Korean food too!
