Love Chinese dim sum and wondering how it’s made?
In this hands-on cooking class, you’ll learn how to make one of the most iconic dim sum dishes — Siu Mai. These open-top dumplings are a staple of Cantonese dim sum restaurants and loved around the world for their rich flavour and delicate wrappers.
Guided by your friendly chefs Simon and Hanna, you’ll discover the fascinating story behind Siu Mai and how this traditional dish evolved over time across different regions of China.
Then it’s time to roll up your sleeves and start cooking.
Classes take place in a small, spacious, air-conditioned studio, giving you plenty of room to cook comfortably while receiving personal guidance from your chef.
Weekday classes are often quieter and may even become private sessions, offering an even more personalised experience.
What You’ll Learn
During this workshop you will make Siu Mai from scratch, including:
  • Preparing Siu Mai dough from flour
  • Making the traditional pork and prawn filling
  • Rolling and shaping Siu Mai wrappers
  • Filling and wrapping authentic Siu Mai
  • Steaming, serving, and tasting your creations
You’ll also learn useful tips including:
  • How to achieve the perfect Siu Mai texture
  • Traditional folding techniques
  • Balancing flavours in dim sum fillings
A vegan filling option is also available.
By the end of the class you’ll have a delicious batch of handmade Siu Mai and the confidence to recreate them at home.

Allergy & Dietary Information
Please inform your teacher of any dietary requirements when booking.
Common ingredients used include:
  • Gluten in the Siu Mai wrappers
  • Egg in pastry
  • Crustaceans in the traditional filling
  • Soy sauce and sesame oil for flavour
The traditional filling is pork and prawn, but vegan alternatives are available by request at booking stage.
Important Booking Information
  • Price is per person. Each attendee must hold a valid ticket.
  • This is an adult-only class (18+).
  • Outside food and drinks are not permitted.
  • Class duration is an estimate and may vary depending on group size.
No Refund Policy
All bookings are non-refundable. If you cannot attend, you may transfer your ticket to another adult (18+). Notify us in advance with the new attendee’s name.
Rescheduling
Rescheduling incurs a £50 fee per person and must be requested at least 7 days before your class date.
Arrival & Punctuality
Classes begin promptly. A 15-minute grace period is provided. Late arrivals may forfeit their booking.
Health & Safety Policy
  • For the safety of all guests and in line with UK food hygiene guidance, anyone experiencing vomiting, diarrhoea, or similar symptoms must be symptom-free for at least 48 hours before attending the class
  • Guests may be asked to confirm this upon arrival
  • We reserve the right to refuse entry if this requirement is not met

Knowledge required
  • Beginners are welcome. Vegan version is available.
  • A person under 18 cannot attend the class at all. We will ask for valid IDs if you look very young. You class will be cancelled without refund if failed to provide proofs. It is for your safety and required by insurance policy. If we don't follow it, this class will not be allowed to carry on. Thank you for your understanding.
