In this Asian cooking class in London, you will learn how to make three different types of buns; bao buns, steamed buns and pan-fried buns.

Bao buns are increasingly popular in the UK with thanks to bao restaurants. Not only are they delicious, but they're also easy to make at home for a quick snack or party food.

Steamed buns are a popular dish in Chinese dim sum history along with pan-fried buns. In this dim sum cooking class, you will learn to make tasty fillings and learn intricate bun-wrapping skills.

You'll learn:

  • Make flour dough.
  • Roll flour dough to the desired shape.
  • prepare wrappings.
  • Prepare mince.
  • Wrap buns.
  • Cook buns.
  • Eat buns.

At the end of this deliciously fun London cooking class, you'll have three homemade Asian-style buns to dig into along with the skills and know-how you need to make more!

Chinese New Year Class
In these special days, you will make extra buns with sweet flavours, ie red bean, custard.
It is traditional flavours to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Please note:
  • If you have special dietary or allergy requirements, please get in touch with your teacher after booking your class.
  • All ages are welcome as long as children are accompanied by a paid adult.
  • Vegan option is available.

This class could be held online as well. Please send us a message if you want to book an online session.

Suitable for

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a team building activity, birthday, hen do or stag do.

This is a fun indoor activity, suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 10 years old). An adult must accompany any attending kids, and must pay for a separate ticket.

This would also be a nice gift for her, gift for mum or anniversary gift.


Simon Wang is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and adheres to COVID-19 government guidelines. They won't run this class if they've had a continuous cough, a high temperature, or a loss of or change in their normal sense of taste or smell, in the last 14 days.

You can book up to 6 persons in one class. The shop is big enough to give comfort distances between each other. It is well ventilate as well.

No extra charge for private classes to make you comfortable.

We had two jabs and self-tests in weekly basis.

We ask all guests to wear masks unless drink or eat.

Washing facility is free to use all the time.

Free to reschedule if you and close contacts tests positive or showing some symptoms.

Your teacher

We are a wife-and-husband team running a small shop called Oriental Food at north London. Shop sells cooking ingredients mainly focused on Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

The shop is not big enough to be a one-stop shopping destination. Therefore we choose the food we like to introduce to local community.

For a while, we found out some cooking books misunderstand or not clear explained lots ingredients. It made customers confused. We started to cook dishes and sell in the shop. All ingredients are used from the shop. All dishes are followed authentic tastes. If customers like the dish, we will show them what have been used.

We enjoy to share our cooking skills with customers. As the dishes get popular, we started selling fresh prepared bentos in Oriental Food. Now we are also doing local delivery and you can find us on UberEats, Deliveroo, etc.

More and more people come to ask how to cook the dishes. Here comes the cooking classes. Customers can learn how to make the most popular bentos in Oriental Food now. We are lovely to talk with. We share our authentic cooking techniques as well as modern trends. So you can make a perfect Chinese, Japanese and Korean food too.

A really good interactive session. Everything was provided and organised before hand . You just have to turn up . The trainer was very welcoming and helped us throughout the process. We had a great time and left us confident that we could now fold baos better. The class was such a good time. I can’t wait to try the recipes now that I know the secret ingredient to making proper Chinese dumplings…it’s Chinese dumpling flour…don’t tell anyone, okay?

The instructors were so good and kind. I kept messing it up and they kept encouraged me to try again and with their help I kept getting better. They talked to me all about the other ingredients, too. And explained some things about Chinese food culture. I can’t wait to make the fried dumplings And next time I’m in London I’ll take another class for sure

The excess food that we didn't eat at the time, we took home and our family loved it.
My only development point is that it would be good just to know a little more about the preparation of the doughs involved and to see that being done. It was OK being presented with the ingredients in a ready to go state, but it sort of assumes you can make the dough and that, to me, would still be a challenge.
All in all however, a really excellent hour and three quarters of instruction. Will most likely go back and do some more corses.
