• 5/5 from Giulia, attended Oct 2026: My friends gifted me a taster session and it was a great way to approach pottery for the first time. We had enough time to work calmly on two pieces. If you decide to keep your work, they will fire it, glaze it, and ship them to you. The studio is small and very intimate; the class was formed of 4 people only. Our teacher Yasmin was fantastic, she walked us through every step very in a very relaxed way. I would definitely recommend this place and considering going again!

The teachers were amazing and patient. Highly recommend. I am definitely inspired to continue pottery classes after this.

• 5/5 from Maureen, attended May 2026: We had excellent afternoon at the Throwing Taster class help at the Columbia Road Clay workshop. Our tutor was so helpful at each stage of process. There were 8 in the group so she had an skilled assistant for us all. Our finished pots were surprisingly good for beginners and we look forward to receiving after the kiln process is completed. A perfect messy fun course and an excellent gift for family and friends.

She walked us through step-by-step, then guided us as we gave it a go ourselves, then she let us roam free but was always on hand as we were about to ruin our pieces! It was really helpful to go through our first piece as a class, and then being left to our own devices. She gave us so many tips and techniques - I was blown away by the fact that I actually LIKED my pieces as a first-time-trier, and it’s because Meli gave such great instructions! When I was stuck with how to make the shape I wanted, she talked me through what to do, and voila! Thank you so much, Meli - I’d love to try pottery throwing again! I think the class was the right size too, and very easy to get to considering I don’t live in London!

Willard is 90 and I am 75 and we like to try new things. Our experience was fantastic and the time FLEW by. Our teachers were soooooo patient, hands-on helpful and encouraging that what seemed daunting at the beginning became just plain fun and sensorial. Explanatiobs were clear, the pace was just right and the whole class was relaxed but wholly focused and involved. Was a really wonderful intro into the world of ceramics. We will sign up for a class in adult ed when we get back to the USA. May save our sanity!

Really friendly and knowledgeable patient… plenty of time at the wheel making our own craft. Shown how to do everything and then shown again and again. Great stuff. Would definitely go again and definitely recommend to anyone.

Yes, it does get everywhere!! Whilst the end result of pots and bowls may be simple there is a great sense of achievement. All in all, a super experience. As an extra, going on a Sunday and spending a couple of hours in Columbia Road flower market was a special treat.

But I can’t say that here - Gabrielle was a great instructor- patient, friendly and took the time to explain things, helping us individually whenever needed. Also really enjoyed the setup of the class, it felt friendly and intimate with lots of hands on tips. I think I learnt more in this class than many others in London, and I felt like I was encouraged to have fun with it rather than pressure to learn straight away. Would highly recommend!

• 5/5 from Topher Godman, attended Mar 2026: Such a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon :) teachers were brilliant and so helpful and the whole group we were with were lovely, it’s very inclusive - I think it would be fun on your own or as a bigger party.. even with my woeful ability I managed to make an ok dish and my girlfriend worked some pottery magic - we’d definitely try it again and will recommend it to friends. Right in the heart of Columbia Road to so loads of places to go to after to discuss potting ability haha

I felt there was the right amount of teaching and leaving us to ourselves to practise, with help from Sophie if asked. Very good value for money, I would definitely recommend. The gift card was very ease to redeem and the company were very accommodating to change the original date booked.
