What you'll do

Join Art Play’s relaxing hand-building pottery workshop in London — a creative, hands-on experience designed to help you unwind, switch off, and make something with your own hands.

Perfect for complete beginners or those with some experience, this session focuses on enjoying the process rather than achieving perfection.

You’ll be guided step-by-step by an experienced pottery instructor as you explore intuitive hand-building techniques in a fun, supportive studio environment. Expect playful exercises, tactile clay work, and relaxed creative time designed to help you slow down and reconnect with your creative side.

By the end of the session, you’ll have created your own unique ceramic piece to take home.

Everything is included — clay, tools, materials, and full guidance from our resident artists — so you can simply turn up and get stuck in.

Our studio also features a café and bar serving coffee, wine, beer, and soft drinks, making it easy to turn your workshop into a social experience.

Perfect for:

A creative date or relaxed night out

Groups, birthdays, or team activities

4/5 from Carron Fox, attended Feb 2025: Really enjoyed making a small coil pot with this session. We'll organised. Welcomed when we arrived and we'd also ordered pizza, which came after the session. It would been useful to be told at the start that the clay wouldn't hold water when lots of example of vases were shown. The tutor gave clear instructions otherwise, provided a range of tools and it was an enjoyable experience.
4/5 from Caroline-May Huxlwy, attended Feb 2025: Great class, first time doing it and would recommend. Went at a great pace and teacher was really nice and friendly and helpful
4/5 from Lauren, attended Feb 2025: Sorcha was a great teacher. The class was fun and good for beginners. It was slightly too quick though and we spent a little too long practicing making coils, it would have been nice to be told sooner that we should now start making our real design so it wasn’t so rushed. The venue was really nice.

Art Play London was founded by Silva Castellani in 2018, starting in galleries such as Phillips, and pop up venues around London.

Art Play is now a new art studio which opened in East London in February 2022, where children and adults of all ages are free to release their imaginations and inner creativity.

Art Play has a strong focus and the environment and aims to educate children and adults on their environmental impact through art, using a variety of sustainable mediums and materials.

Art Play is part of the worldwide Precious Plastic community which means it will be a plastic collection point for people to drop off their HDPE plastic which would otherwise end up in landfills or the ocean. The plastic is then shredding and melted and turned into useful objects and pieces of art, such as plant pots and coasters.
