This cooking class will start with an introductory talk where you will learn everything from the history of sushi making to modern-day trends. Then, it'll be time to get hands-on with your own creations.

During this sushi-making class you'll learn how to:

  • Prepare your sushi rice.
  • Prepare raw fish for maki.
  • Make the perfect salmon avocado maki.
  • Make the perfect tempura prawn maki (vegetarian options are also available).
  • Dressing the plates and presentation.

At the end of this cooking class, you will have gained some useful sushi-making knowledge and you'll have made your own sushi to enjoy.

  • Vegan option is available. No shellfish is possible.
  • All ages are welcome as long as paid children accompanied with paid adults.

Allergy Information
  • Egg and mustard in homemade mayonnaise.
  • Sesame seeds on top of sushi rice.
  • Crustaceans in fish and prawn.
  • Gluten in soy sauce and tempura prawn.
  • Mustard contained in wasabi paste.

Suitable for

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a team building activity, birthday, hen do or stag do.

This is a fun indoor activity, suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 10 years old). An adult must accompany any attending kids, and must pay for a separate ticket.

This would also be a nice gift for her, gift for mum or anniversary gift.


Simon Wang is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and adheres to COVID-19 government guidelines. They won't run this class if they've had a continuous cough, a high temperature, or a loss of or change in their normal sense of taste or smell, in the last 14 days.

You can book up to 6 persons in one class. The shop is big enough to give comfort distances between each other. It is well ventilate as well.

No extra charge for private classes to make you comfortable.

We had two jabs and self-tests in weekly basis.

We ask all guests to wear masks unless drink or eat.

Washing facility is free to use all the time.

Free to reschedule if you and close contacts tests positive or showing some symptoms.

Your teacher

We are a wife-and-husband team running a small shop called Oriental Food at north London. Shop sells cooking ingredients mainly focused on Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

The shop is not big enough to be a one-stop shopping destination. Therefore we choose the food we like to introduce to local community.

For a while, we found out some cooking books misunderstand or not clear explained lots ingredients. It made customers confused. We started to cook dishes and sell in the shop. All ingredients are used from the shop. All dishes are followed authentic tastes. If customers like the dish, we will show them what have been used.

We enjoy to share our cooking skills with customers. As the dishes get popular, we started selling fresh prepared bentos in Oriental Food. Now we are also doing local delivery and you can find us on UberEats, Deliveroo, etc.

More and more people come to ask how to cook the dishes. Here comes the cooking classes. Customers can learn how to make the most popular bentos in Oriental Food now. We are lovely to talk with. We share our authentic cooking techniques as well as modern trends. So you can make a perfect Chinese, Japanese and Korean food too.

Myself and my partner thoroughly enjoyed the Sushi making class Simon and Hanna ran - they are a lovely couple, with so much knowledge to share, and are very natural teachers. We learnt lots more than expected about the ingredients, ate more sushi than we expected, and it tasted delicious! Multiple cups of Jasmine tea on a really cold night were also a nice touch. I thought the class was good value for money as it was just us, and the the portions were generous. Looking forward to trying out our new skills at home now!

Such a great class! Not only did we learn to make fabulous sushi, but we got to learn about the ingredients and also a bit of the history of sushi. I took along my 12 year old son and his friend and they absolutely loved it! Simon and Hannah were such great teachers and we are already planning to go back for another class.

Ok, the main thing is that we have had a great experience and have already booked another class!

The venue was clean, well-lit and welcoming. It was easy to find and we felt welcome as soon as we walked through the door.

Simon and Hannah explained everything very clearly and were on hand throughout to explain and demonstrate the techniques we were going to be using.

The session was unhurried but kept moving with new information or things to do. Everything we needed was provided from aprons to rolling mats. and was clean and in good condition.

This class was great value for money and as they offer lots of other classes we are looking forward to going back soon.
