Fun activities to do in Edinburgh
There's no shortage of activities to do in Edinburgh, whether you're completely new to this or already crafty. Our friendly teachers cheer you on and make sure you have a blast, whatever you pick – crafting your own signature cocktails, trying needle felting, or arranging flowers into a bouquet you'll actually keep. It's also a solid way to widen your social circle: bond with new people over a shared interest, or gather your own friends and family for a creative afternoon together.
ClassBento’s easy-to-use booking system takes the legwork out of finding things to do in Edinburgh for adults – pick your date, budget and group size, then sign up online. Most workshops offer private and public sessions, so you can go solo to meet other crafty souls or book the whole group. Planning a stag or hen do, or trying to think of fun birthday themes? Try a private cocktail class, a whisky tasting experience or chocolate making workshop instead. Prefer needlework? Join friendly sewing classes or dressmaking sessions and learn how to stitch with like-minded newbies.

- Dough-it Yourself Pizza Masterclass is Edinburgh's most-followed cooking class. Rated 4.9 stars (31 reviews, 120k Instagram followers), you'll stretch and top your own pizza from scratch, from £55.
- Beginner's Guide to Crochet is the cheapest way onto this list. Rated 5.0 stars (107 reviews), from just £29.
- Photography Darkroom Experience is one of the cool places to visit in Edinburgh for something different. Rated 5.0 stars (14 reviews), you'll develop real film by hand, from £60.

Exciting activities for an afternoon in Edinburgh
Looking to shake up your routine and find fun things to do in Edinburgh? ClassBento’s activities offer a great way to unwind and try something new, whether that’s a hands-on craft workshop, a beginner-friendly art class, or a chocolate making experience. Need to de-stress instead? A peaceful tea blending session might be exactly what you need.
Ready to explore Edinburgh in a whole new way? Join a photography workshop and uncover fun places to go in Edinburgh that most visitors miss, guided by a local expert – a great way to capture the city's beauty and bond with your team, celebrate a birthday, or enjoy a laid-back stag party. No need to stress about planning; just book your spot and show up.
Prefer staying indoors? Head to a cosy local studio for pottery making, cooking classes, an eco-resin craft session, or a repotting gardening workshop. Take a break, unwind, and enjoy some quality time as you lose yourself in whatever you pick – it's something to do in Edinburgh that actually leaves you calmer, not more frazzled.
Affordable Edinburgh experiences from £13
You don't need a big budget for a great Edinburgh workshop. With classes starting from just £13 for the Natural Lacquer Bookmark Workshop, there's plenty of choice at the lower end, too.
- A hands-on craft beats a shop-bought souvenir, every time. The Statement Bag Charm Making Class (from £15) and Herbal Sachet Making Workshop (from £19) both need zero experience.
- Crochet and sewing sit right at the affordable end. Beginner's Guide to Crochet (from £29) and Sewing Class: Drop-in (from £24) are two of the cheapest ways into a new hobby.
- Glass painting is a stylish, low-cost pick. The Glass Painting Workshop in Edinburgh (from £24) lets you design your own glassware to use every day.
- Most of these run right in the city, with a few just outside it. There's just as much choice in things to do in and around Edinburgh as there is in the centre, including options in Falkirk and Dalgety Bay.
The budget shouldn't limit a good workshop – these low-cost options prove some of the best Edinburgh experiences don't need a big spend.
Fun things to do in Edinburgh for couples
Edinburgh has plenty of creative classes built for two. Try a hands-on pottery class – the Wheel Throwing Class (from £65) or a Handbuilding Pottery Workshop (from £60) both work well for shaping something together. Prefer food? A cooking class like the Perfect Pasta Workshop (from £90) lets you master a new cuisine side by side, or keep it lighter with a Paint and Sip Class (from £32) and a glass of wine each.
For something to take home, try a DIY workshop – jewellery making, candle making, or a floral arrangement class like the Summer Flower Arranging Workshop (from £75) all end with a piece you both made. These classes give couples a shared project to focus on, rather than just another dinner reservation.
