Discover the art of glass fusing in this hands-on workshop, which is also ideal for groups and parties. Rhona Duffy will guide you to cut, layer and fuse glass to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces.
Under Rhona's guidance, you'll design two or three small projects, such as drink stirrers, hanging decorations, tiles, coasters or magnets, or even inclusions for mosaic work if you create them too.
With all materials and tools provided, this workshop offers a relaxed and creative environment to ignite your artistic side. Perfect for anyone curious about glass art, this a fun and inspiring experience in a relaxed atmosphere. And it's suitable for complete beginners.
Your pieces will need to be fired in the kiln and you can collect them a few days later, or we can post them out to you for a small extra charge to cover postage/packing.
Tea/coffee and snacks are included. We hope to see you at Studio 164 Falkirk soon!
This workshop is also available for group bookings - we love to welcome groups of friends, families and work colleagues, for parties, team-building, birthdays and other celebrations. Available for groups of four to twelve people.
About Your Tutor
Rhona Duffy is a mosaic and glass artist. She has a contemporary take on mosaic, while also appreciating the classical rules – she particularly enjoys pushing the boundaries of the Roman technique opus sectile (using larger pieces of material to produce a pattern) and she has recently begun to create and include glass-fused pieces into her work to enhance this. Her work is inspired by art nouveau, music and nature. Rhona is also the founder of Studio 164 Falkirk and the founding editor of international magazine Mosaic & Glass. She volunteers at her son’s school, introducing him and his classmates to mosaic and glass. Rhona has taught regularly at the Wider Access to School Project in Denny – a charity providing subsidised higher education to adult learners in the local community – and the Central Scotland School of Craft in Dunblane for several years. She now teaches mainly at Studio 164 Falkirk. Her work is available to buy at Made in Stirling. Originally from Dublin, Rhona has lived in Scotland for over 30 years.

Nestled in Falkirk in the heart of Scotland, Studio 164 is the home of Mosaic & Glass, an international magazine and organiser of mosaic and glass events and learning opportunities.
Our studio hosts community classes, workshops, exhibitions, meet-ups, pop-ups, and more, providing a hub for creativity and connection in the Falkirk area. It’s also available to hire – perfect for evening, half-day, one-day or multi-day/week workshops, events, or collaborations.
It was founded by Rhona Duffy, editor of Mosaic & Glass magazine and a local mosaic artist who loves to share her passions and skills with others. She has already been teaching mosaic for several years and she’s very excited to be now bringing a programme of mosaic and glass events to Central Scotland in Studio 164, including community classes, parent and child classes, one/multi-day workshops, meet-ups and exhibitions, as well as hosting experts in mosaic and glass from across the world for masterclasses and talks.
Rhona has created a welcoming space that she wants to share with other local people too, to enable more teaching, learning, connection, creativity, and sharing. So whether you’re looking to hold your own event, or you’re interested in trying something new, we invite you to be part of our growing creative community. We’re looking forward to seeing how the space develops and evolves!
