Fabulous Floristry Courses in Edinburgh to Give Your Home Some Flower Power

Fabulous Floristry Courses in Edinburgh to Give Your Home Some Flower Power

By Victoria Haynes

If you’re looking for ways to brighten your home this spring 2026, a floristry course in Edinburgh will help you liven things up with some blooming lovely handmade touches!

From rooms filled with fragrant floral displays and cushions covered in jewel-coloured blooms to cosy plant corners and gorgeous glass terrariums, bringing the outside in is the perfect way to add some spring vibes to your pad. Not usually the creative type? Don’t worry – we’re here to show you that DIY-ing your way to success is easier than you think!

Whether you’re passionate about peonies or you’re a houseplant pro with perennials on your mind, our floral design workshops and plant care courses will help you channel your inner bohemian and turn your home into a castle. More of a creative crafter than a green-fingered gardener? Swap floristry experiences for an art class or craft session and learn how to sew your way to floral heaven instead. Whether you’d rather get creative with carnations or nifty with a needle, we’ve rounded up our favourite floristry-themed Edinburgh activities that will turn your home into a bohemian paradise this spring!

Explore fragrance and colour with fresh floral design

From heavenly scented roses and gardenias to showy peonies and delicate sweetpeas, spring is a real delight for flower lovers everywhere – so rather than just heading off to the supermarket for a pre-tied bunch, why not get creative this year and learn how to make your floral arrangements really stand out?

From large hand-tied bouquets and impressive floral arrangements housed in gorgeous vases to delicate flower wreaths for your door to welcome your nearest and dearest, a floristry course in Edinburgh will help make all of your floral dreams come true this year. Not sure which to pick? One of our absolute favourites has to be the foraged flower arranging workshop, hosted by Parisian-trained floral designers Ollie and Ivy. You’ll explore the local parks and gardens of beautiful Edinburgh, gathering flowers and foliage for your floral arrangement along the way, and you’ll learn all the techniques needed to transform your floral bounty into a beautiful hand tied bouquet or display.

Find yourself with some leftovers? The best thing about flower arranging is that even the stems that aren’t quite vase-worthy can be put to good use; simply place them between sheets of tissue paper in the pages of a heavy book and leave to dry for around ten days. You’ll have a selection of beautifully pressed blooms ready to turn into some wonderful wall art!

Keep it modern with dried flower arrangements

Looking for a longer-lasting alternative to sweet-smelling fresh blooms? If you’d like to keep your posy looking perfect for as long as possible, opt for dried flower arrangements instead – they’re just as stylish but more sustainable and they’ll last for years!

Loving the modern boho look? Learn how to mix paper fans with pampas grass and create some statement-dried floral displays to fill those vases at a spring dried flower workshop in Edinburgh. Led by a floristry pro, you’ll learn how to select the blooms for your floral arrangement before being taken through the drying process, so you’ll know all the tricks to keep your stems looking their very best. You’ll get tips on choosing containers and vases, and advice on creating impressive structures that will add depth and interest to your space. From hand tied bouquets to table flower arrangements, you’ll learn it all at this fun floral-themed Edinburgh experience!

Flex those fingers and learn botanical embroidery stitches

If you’re more into sewing stitches than you are sowing seeds, you can still capture the botanical boho vibe and fill your place with posies – Edinburgh floristry classes don’t have to include real blooms, you know!

Swap secateurs for scissors and join a floristry themed botanical embroidery class at Edinburgh Sewcial Club for some sewing basics in the city, where you’ll meet plenty of like minded crafters and be able to stitch the day away. Snuggled down in a cosy space, you’ll be led on your creative journey by an experienced crafter and seamstress, who will teach you all the embroidery stitches you’ll need to whip up a wonderful hand-sewn floral design. Completely beginner friendly, you’ll learn different embroidery techniques to create a variety of colourful blooms, and will even discover how to embroider leaves to finish the piece off – because after all, what’s a flower arrangement with no foliage?!

From delicate floral wreaths stitched onto embroidery hoops to full-blown flower arrangements hand embroidered onto cushion covers, this embroidery class is the perfect floristry alternative that will still let you put a little spring in your step – and your space!

Create a macrame hanging home for your plants and flowers

If you're a passionate houseplant parent or a flower arranging aficionado, you probably know that space can be a problem. Whether you’re filling your house with floral designs or pots full of perennials, running out of shelves and window sills can be a nightmare – which is why we think you’re going to love our DIY plant hanger macrame workshop!

Held at The Edinburgh Sewcial Club, this fun craft class will teach you how to make a macrame plant hanger from scratch – so whether you’re a knotting novice or a macrame master, you’ll be in good hands. You’ll gather with your classmates and, led by a crafty artisan, you’ll learn how to knot your way to DIY plant hanger success – with tasty snacks and delicious refreshments, all included! You’ll learn how to work several different types of macrame knots, and whip up a variety of plant hanger designs that will make the perfect home for your glorious floral arrangements or precious houseplants!
