Discover the captivating art of glass fusing in this hands-on workshop designed for beginners. Learn the essential techniques of cutting, layering, and fusing glass to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces. Guided by Una Galbraith, you’ll explore the properties of glass, experiment with colour and texture, learn how to cut glass, and design two or three small projects, such as jewellery, drink stirrers, bookmarks, hanging decorations, tiles, or magnets. Or, if you're most interested in one thing - like jewellery - you can focus on that.
With all materials and tools provided, this workshop offers a relaxed and creative environment to ignite your artistic side. Perfect for anyone curious about glass art, this introduction promises a fun and inspiring experience! It’s a relaxed atmosphere where not only will you develop your glass fusing skills, but you’ll also have an enjoyable day out.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners, but more experienced fusers are welcome too.
Your pieces will need to be fired in the kiln, and you can collect them a few days later, or we can post them out to you.
This is also a great workshop for team building and private parties – if you’d like to book for a private event, contact Rhona by email.

  • 5/5 from Jennifer Fox, attended Feb 2026: I booked the introduction to glass fusing workshop as a gift for my friend & we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Una is a fantastic instructor, who was so patient & showed a real passion for her art. The studio was a good size for the class of 9 who were there that day. We each made a drink stirrer & a hanging piece & can’t wait to see our finished items which should be ready to collect or be posted out in only 4 days. I’d highly recommend this workshop to anyone looking to have an enjoyable afternoon trying something new.
  • 5/5 from Avril Weir, attended Oct 2025: What a fantastic workshop! I am a complete beginner having no experience in fused glass and not being "arty" at all. The class itself was really informative and the tutor was knowledgeable and helpful. It was an excellent introduction to fused glass and everyone was there to have fun. I never felt under pressure or judged. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. I am pleased with my pieces and would love to come back for another class. I made a fridge magnet and a square glass with a hook. (It keeps saying there is an error so i cant upload photos!)
  • 5/5 from Anna Black, attended Oct 2025: It was a fantastic and interesting class to learn how to fuse glass. Una was a great teacher, explaining any technical terms and demonstrating the best way to cut glass. Able to make two pieces in a short period of time (magnet and hanging art). Would reccomend for sure!
