What you'll do
Learn to make a sterling silver ring set with a single faceted stone in this beginner’s class while discovering essential jewellery making techniques such as forming, soldering, setting, and polishing. You will be guided through this class with demonstrations and one-to-one support from your tutor.
During the class, you'll be making a single sterling silver ring set with a 4mm faceted cubic zirconia stone.
What to expect:
You will begin the day by looking at different examples of what you will be making and choosing your ring profile and stone colour. Once you have measured your finger, you will saw your piece of silver to the correct length, file up the ends, solder it into a ring, and then form it to fit your finger.
After forming the ring, you will then saw off a piece of tubing and file it to fit the profile of the ring. This will then be soldered onto the ring shank and cleaned up. Once the ring has been pre-polished, you will cut the seat for the stone and set the stone into the ring. The final step is to polish the ring to a high polish or matte finish.
By the end of the class, you'll have your gorgeous ring ready to wear or give as a wonderful gift, along with all your newfound skills ready to tackle your next project.

No previous experience needed, just a steady hand, a little patience, and willingness to give it a go!
What you'll get
You will be provided with all materials needed to make this ring, including sterling silver and cubic zirconia stones. You will be able to take home your handmade piece of jewellery at the end of the class.
What to bring
- Reading glasses (if you need them!)
- Apron if you wish to protect your clothing.
- Clothes: Casual and not too precious as they may get a bit dusty or damaged. Avoid long, loose-fitting sleeves and anything that might catch or get caught while you are working.
- Shoes: Casual flat shoes and no open-toed sandals in case you drop a hammer or something hot on them!
- Hair: Tie long hair back.
