Commemorate International Women's Day with us at FORGE by drawing inspiration from your favourite women artists to create a unique silver pendant. This class offers an opportunity to delve into the world of design, teaching you process of selecting elements from inspiration and translating them into a beautiful piece of jewellery.
What will I make?
A beautiful pendant on a silver chain.
What will happen on the day?
You will start the day getting to know your fellow makers and looking at examples of what you will be making. You will also be supplied with everything you need, including silver and tools.
We will begin by looking at a number of women artists as inspiration, using images of their work as the springboard for your design. There will be lots of images to help inspire you, as well as samples of pendants made and inspired by different artists.
After coming up with a design, you will have instruction on various ways to cut out your desired shape, practicing first with copper before moving onto sterling silver, using a saw or metal snips. You will then be shown a range of texturing techniques, including using hammers and mark-making punches.
Having decorated your pendant, you will add a jump ring and an 18" sterling silver chain, so your piece is ready to wear or be gifted to someone special.

Knowledge required
No previous experience is needed, just a steady hand, a little patience, and a willingness to give it a go!

What you'll get
You will be provided with all materials needed to make this pendant, including sterling silver and a chain. You will be able to take home your handmade piece of jewellery at the end of the class.

What to bring
