Want to have a go on the potter's wheel and also hand-sculpt a beautiful pot? We welcome you to have a taste of both at Maison S.Sommet (formerly known as The Ceramicists)!

This experienced and friendly team offer a warm, stylish and spacious pottery studio, the perfect place to unwind with clay. They are passionate ceramicists and will make sure you make the most of it.

You will be welcomed with a beautiful set-up of your own tools and your own desk space to create amazing handmade pottery. You'll then kick off the learning portion of the class with demonstrations on the secrets of sculpting.

Learn about coiling and all the tricks to wheel throwing in only a few hours. Your teacher will also have prepared clay coils for you to use so when it’s your turn to get your hands messy, you'll be confident to create your fun masterpiece!

Finally decorate your pieces with a selection of 8 coloring slip before you go!

At the end of the class, your beautiful pottery pieces will be taken away to be professionally glazed and fired, ready to collect after 3 weeks to display at home or give away as handmade gifts! (Optional delivery can be arranged on the day).

Please note:

  • Your chosen piece will be glazed and fired for FREE, ready to collect 3 weeks after the class.
  • A materials fee of £5 per extra chosen piece of pottery made is payable on the day of your workshop.

P.S Things you can make: Toothbrush cup, no.1 dad mug, paint brush pot holder, small vase, trinket dish, incense holder, spoon rest, a salt pig, a yarn spool holder - the list is endless!

Suitable for

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a team building activity, birthday or hen do.

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 4 years old).

An adult must accompany any attending kids, and must pay for a separate ticket.

Stephanie Sommet is a highly experienced and acclaimed ceramicist with over 15 years of expertise. Paris-born, with a background in architecture, in 2014 she ventured to London, where she established her one-of-a-kind ceramic design studio.

This year the studio was chosen for sponsorship by prominent brands IKEA and H&M, as part of Atelier 100—a program that champions London's most exciting creatives.

Stephanie's approach to ceramics is driven by playful experimentation, a philosophy that has significantly influenced her collaborations and projects. Her renown within the arts and ceramics industry stems from her unique understanding of the medium.

She has undertaken projects in collaboration with distinguished artists and renown institutions such as the Whitechapel Gallery, Ace Hotel, Bankside Hotel, and The Shard, to name just a few.

Today, Stephanie shares her passion and expertise, not only through her own creative work but also by teaching. Her vision is embodied by the brand Maison S. Sommet.

The design team at the studio takes a distinctive approach to ceramics, dedicated to exploring the limitless possibilities of clay. Each piece produced at Maison S. Sommet is an embodiment of the new-age ceramics, embracing imperfections, and eschewing traditional mass-produced flawlessness.
