Ceramics Class: Taster

Get a head start with creative clay at this fun pottery workshop in South Bermondsey..

2 hours Class size 1 to 8 (public classes), 4 to 12 label £45

If you've got a craving to get creative with clay, this beginners' pottery workshop in London is the perfect way to get started! Led by talented ceramics experts, you'll get the opportunity to try your hand at both hand building with clay and using the potter's wheel to create two unique pieces of pottery of your very own.

After a tour of their cosy studio space in Peckham, your friendly hosts will give you some useful demonstrations of the techniques and equipment you'll be using, as well as showing some of their own pieces to give you some extra inspiration!

Once you're familiar with your workstation, it'll be your turn to start crafting your own ceramics! You'll begin with using coiled clay to hand-build a gorgeous plant pot, before giving wheel-thrown pottery a spin to craft a salt dish to take pride of place in your kitchen. Don't worry if this is your first time working with clay, as your expert guides will be behind you every step of the way to guide you towards pottery perfection!

Once your two-hour session is over, you'll leave your pieces in your hosts' capable hands, who'll then glaze them, fire them in their kiln and have them ready for collection or posted to you in a few weeks' time — don't worry, the wait will be well worth it!

The teacher was amazing! She provided us with lots of information and guidance before and during the class.
For anyone that wants to try out ceramics its definitely value for money. The materials and colours provided great too.
Even though the class overran by a quarter of a hour she was still very patient and allowed us time to finish without rushing.
