During our vacation in London, my wife and I attended a doughnut-making class that was both delightful and informative. The instructor was friendly and knowledgeable, making the class engaging and easy to follow. Held in a well-equipped and cozy venue, we learned to make doughnuts from scratch, including various techniques for mixing, frying, and decorating. All materials were provided, and we found the class to be excellent value for money. The highlight was getting creative with our toppings, resulting in a fun and memorable experience that we highly recommend.

Hi Steven, Thank you for your review and we hope your sister is no longer ill.

We realise that perhaps you don’t think much of our reasoning in sticking to our T&Cs however, sadly your circumstances may be unique to you but sadly this is something we have to deal with on daily basis.

This is why we have the 2-week cancellation policy which means you are able to reschedule as much as you would like. It’s important to note that we also offer our insurance policy which helps mitigate the risk for our customers should there be any last-minute unforeseen circumstances which you did not buy, had you purchased it we would have simply move you. Past that 2-week mark, we incur our own costs including booking freelance staff (who we value and hold our own responsibility to).

We also feel we must point out that you were booked on a very popular Class that was fully booked for months before and we would have been able to release your space to another individual, we even had a waiting list which we contacted in hope of re-selling your ticket but with 2 hour notice, no one was able to make it. We have also offered you to have someone else attend in your place.

As we have mentioned, unfortunately we get daily requests from customers who call us when ill, double-booked, have babysitter issues, caught at work, affected by a train strike, caught covid or had a family emergency amongst other things, and regrettably, we just wouldn’t be able to continue to function if we refunded or transfer tickets for situations out of our hands. We are a small business with very limited spots on our classes which means every cancellation makes a huge difference on our margins, which is why we have our strict terms and conditions.

When you buy your tickets you agree to the terms on checkout, which we then reiterate in our email confirmation. In the instance that someone is unable to attend, we do try our best to help by offering to help them resell their ticket(s) and if successful we can then transfer them to another class, alternatively we are happy for you to pass on tickets to friends or resell your tickets yourself.

For any potential customers reading this - please do make sure to familiarise yourself with our rescheduling policy to avoid any uncertainty as we guarantee that if you do attend - you will have a fantastic experience.

A great afternoon! The room was easy to find; workspaces were well set out; the equipment was just right for the tasks; there were helpers on hand for advice and above all the chef/teacher was excellent. We learned a lot about the science behind the cooking, but acquiring the practical skills was the highlight of the day. We hadn't realised we would be making noodles from scratch, or getting a glimpse of how a professional uses a knife for chopping. Everyone around us seemed to be having a great time as well, so we will be recommending this place to all.

My children purchased the class for me for my birthday, and to be honest I was slightly apprehensive about the event as I am not the normal cook of the household.

I had no reason to be concerned, it was the best fun ever. I got to do some real cooking, learnt loads of new things and met some really nice people.

The chef was great, and the instructions easy to follow. I definitely want to attend another event.

There's a good, relaxed atmosphere at all times (I'm sure the bottomless wine had nothing to do with that). We ended up with a delicious meal; we could have eaten it at the end of the class, but we had a long drive home, so took it with us and reheated it - smashing.

I did the doughnut making class with my 10-year-old daughter and would recommend this course to everyone with a sweet tooth! The two of us had our own workstation. Everything was well organised and the staff were friendly. There was a good balance of hands-on cooking with explanation. The chef leading the course was clearly experienced. It was really helpful, having two or three staff members, wandering around to support us as we were making the doughnut dough. We were amazed at how our doughnuts turned out at the end – delicious with lovely fillings of chocolate, jam or fresh custard. Don’t forget Tupperware to take them home!

Excellent venue with plenty of space and high quality utensils, stoves and other equipment. There was A LOT of information to convey and maybe some of it could have been reduced but I also liked that Richard wanted us to know the whys and wherefores of using a particular method rather than just unquestioningly following a recipe. Its down to the individiual to concentrate if tjey want to learn. All in a good experience and I would happily do another course there.

Enzo was absolutely great! He was really fun and passionate about the cooking.

The workstation set-up was great. The environment was clean and all utensils were well supplied.

We were surprised to have been served wine and make a 3 course meal, we were not expecting this.

The teaching assistants were also great!

The only complaints were - one teaching assistant added salt to our our cooking without our permission and made it too salty. The other niggle was that the booking said gnocchi, risotto or pasta, we assumed we would have the option of which dish we wanted to cook when in reality we all made the same dish set by the company.

Overall we had a fab evening wining, cooking and dining and the money was well worth it. We will definitely be returning to do another class.

An absolutely fantastic experience! I was very nervous going to the class on my own but I ended up laughing and having so much fun in the easy going atmosphere. The table I was placed with were fantastic and we ended up becoming friends in the short class. The teacher was incredibly accommodating, friendly and funny. He made it feel like we were all just friends hanging out learning a new skill. The class had such a variety from children to couples and we all felt completely at ease. The assistants were friendly and very helpful as well. I loved all the extra tips and tricks, the jokes and light hearted atmosphere. I booked it as a birthday gift.

Pros-
1) enjoyable experience
2) we learnt how to make a great custard filling for doughnuts!
3) The teacher was very friendly
4) The environment was a nice clean set up.
5) you get to take home the delicious doughnuts

Cons-
1)we never covered the jam filling and the chocolate filling was abit rushed.
2) The follow up pack with the recipes were not very detailed.
3) I think the main con was that we had 1 workspace and bowl of ingredients between 2 people . Im the kind of person that likes to go through all the steps by myself so that I remember each bit .
4) Another con is that it would have been good if we had more dough as I think we could have easily made more than just the 6 doughnuts (considering how much we paid).

Overall- if your looking for a fun day then its a great option but if you want to go home with detailed recipes and plenty of doughnuts then maybe not!

I was very disappointed with this class. Firstly, I’m not sure what it was trying to be - is it a fun class or is it a serious learning class? You can’t bounce between the two during the class though and not everyone has the same level of knowledge, so you have to be clear what you are. Then there was poor structure - the woman who was running it (Diana) sped through the instructions, jumping between explaining other things that we weren’t there for. It left everyone confused and meant most people didn’t know what they were doing. Time management was also an issue - not only because we all needed clarifying with the instructions, but also simple things like ovens weren’t on when we needed to bake. So we had to rush, and at the end, we had to take our bakes away immediately (as we ran out of time to enjoy them there)…which didn’t bode well as they went from oven to Tupperware. So by the time you got home (even a short ride home), they were ruined. Then there were people around us who were doing other things in the background, running between us in our lesson, and preparing for the next one. All in all, I do not recommend this class at the Avenue Cookery School. I’ve been to far better ones in London.

Such a great experience, I went with my sister and a friend of ours for her birthday celebration and we had such a good time. I have been trying unsuccessfully to make poached eggs and came away from this class knowing how to make one now! The teacher, Richard gives really good instructions and checks up on you throughout the process to make sure you know and understand what you're doing. The bottomless bellinis were also a great bonus and its just such a fun way to spend your morning.

The workshop was brilliant, a lovely small class size (the kitchen could probably fit 12 people though there were 10 on the course) that made the course feel personal, but great large workstations with plenty of room - the perfect blend. The workstations were clean and well stocked.
The teacher was brilliant - charismatic, engaging and very knowledgeable about ice cream and gave us all great insights to the technical/scientific reasons why/how each method of making ice cream worked. Personally I liked the extra geekiness, but my wife found it a little much, so definitely need to find the right balance (which the teacher himself said on the day) which I think he did quite well.
The ice creams and other deserts we tasted (there was a lot) were all delicious (even the flavours I don't normally like!). Would definitely recommend for any ice cream lover!

I had a fantastic time at the Pasta/Italian cooking school and learned loads! The school itself is superbly equipped and the dishes and ingredients had clearly been picked for things you can recreate at home.

Richard the teacher was extremely knowledgeable and there’s clearly a lot to cover in a short space of time so he speaks very quickly making it difficult to keep up if you’re a beginner but other staff were available to ask when it came to our turn to cook.

I definitely think this course was good value for money, the drinks were bottomless and tasty and I have picked up plenty of new techniques.

When I walked in I was very impressed by the superb facilities and layout in the venue. The work stations were so well set up with the hobs, oven, sink and all the equipment needed for preparing and cooking. It was first class. I liked the teacher's style as he was very informative but also entertaining and I learned a lot with some neat techniques as well. Then the ingredients were all to hand and we had fun preparing the dishes in good company with my fellow guests and the copious supply of wine! Our group were very happy with their results and then we sat down and enjoyed a delicious meal. A word of thanks to Santa's helpers who did a wonderful and discrete job of removing the used things and bringing in fresh supplies. Excellent teamwork. Conclusion - a very enjoyable and enlightening experience and I would highly recommend the Avenue Cookery School. Thank you very much

A wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Diana is a vibrant and fun teacher offering many practical tips along the way in putting together a tasty meal on the table.
Diana’s helpers darted around and just seemed to be by my side the moment a question popped into my mind or I needed a one to one demonstration.
The group size was just right with everybody having fun.
The free flowing wine was also very welcome.
I have never been a great cook - my wife is amazing so nothing I cook can compare! - but this course has motivated me to start with what I have learnt and progress from there.

The whole team was really nice and we had a great morning learning so much about bread! The school is a great location, 100% recommend this course. I bought it as a present for my boyfriend and we both had a great time.
Even if you buy it just for yourself you do the class together with another person, which wasn't a problem for us, but I think it's important to know that.
But overall 10/10.

Great class overall, however still have not received the recipe to re-create at home! It would have been good to have been given this at the class itself to use, and then take away with us.

It would have been also good to go through different shapes of pasta that could be made with the pasta dough, and also the different vegan fillings that would be possible.

This class was amazing, I enjoyed every moment of it.
Richard, the teacher, is ace. A bundle of joy, super knowledgeable, patient, and fun. The rest of the team is also super-competent, helpful, and nice. Not to forget the banging tunes that we were listening to while learning how to make sushi and cocktails.
The venue is really cool, I felt like I was in a proper kitchen setting with family and cozy vibes, at the same time.
Everything was provided, from ingredients, alcool, and utensils. It was really professional.
I can definitely say I have learned how to make sushi and cocktails and I would recommend this class to anybody who wants to learn how to cook, have fun and spend an ace night.

Dynamic and very personable teacher (Helen). Tuition was at the right place and Helen gave me extra clarification if needed. The school was a gem. I loved the way it was kitted out and all the clever design hacks (oven doors, integrated sockets). I also liked some of the posters around the school, giving the venue personality.

I bought this session for my husband as he loves a beef wellington! I thought it would be good for him to learn how to make it. I didn’t realise that you were meant to pair up with someone and there were mainly couples on the workshop. My husband had to pair up with the only other lone attendee; incidentally this person was not happy about pairing up with someone either! Not ideal and I’m disappointed this wasn’t made clear. The teaching was good, however, a lot of the elements had already been prepared so it was just a case of assembling the dish and putting in the oven.
