What you'll do

This London cooking course will transform your approach to cooking. Week one will provide the building blocks for week two’s more advanced and imaginative dishes. Suitable for complete beginners!

The layout of each day will be the same, a morning demonstration and explanation of the day’s recipes is followed by a break (for elevenses) where you will be treated to bread, cake and lemonade. After your morning break, you'll start cooking in pairs and get hands-on to create what you learned during the demonstration.

Having cooked up a storm for lunch you will sit down to enjoy what you've made. After your meal, you'll get ready for an afternoon demonstration and more hands-on cooking.

As part of this cooking course, you will be given The Avenue's easy-to-follow recipe book, but you will only need it as a reference source and inspiration as you'll be taught to truly understand each step of every dish - allowing you to cook without instruction and without a recipe, long after the course has finished!

During week one, the most basic techniques are carefully worked through and when necessary, covered several times to help you hone your skills. As well as learning basic recipes, you'll also be taught knife skills, food management, kitchen hygiene and menu planning.

By the end of the first week, you'll have cooked a range of useful basic recipes and you'll have developed your kitchen confidence in the meantime. You'll then be ready to move on to the more advanced skills of week two!

During the second week of this London cooking course, you will be taught more advanced techniques, international cuisines and delicious dinner party food with the same structure as the first week. Alongside more advanced meat and fish preparation, you'll also learn how to cater for those with specific dietary requirements.

The teaching of your cooking classes is very flexible so if there are any gaps in your knowledge or anything you'd like extra help on, your chef tutors can accommodate you. Learning in this relaxed environment means there's always an opportunity to ask questions!

This fun, sociable and informative series of London cooking classes is perfect if you're keen to learn to cook and want to learn from professional chefs with lots of knowledge. You will leave with an interesting selection of delicious recipes, techniques and dinner party ideas as well as some good home grub.

Preparing and cooking a variety of vegetables.
Learning to cook international foods and different techniques.

Course timings:

Monday – Thursday 9am – 5pm (lunch included).
Fridays 9am – 4pm (breakfast and lunch included).

Catered for allergies: vegetarian, LF and GF dietary requirements can be catered for on request, but time restraints mean meal alternatives will not be covered in the demonstrations.
