What you'll do
If you think you can't draw but have always wanted to give it a try, then this beginners' course run by local artist Olivia Irvine is for you!
This 3-week, 7.5 hour course, includes a series of three, 2.5 hour introduction to drawing workshops, which you can also book individually (see separate listings). You will try out exercises that activate the more visual part of your brain, helping you to really look. Using the humble HB pencil, you will learn how to see and relate to shapes in an absorbing way, which results in drawings that are more dynamic and accurate than you may have thought possible.
Morning course of 3 classes: opt for course start date 25 January 2024
Week 1: drawing with line - 25 January at 10am
Week 2: drawing with tone - 1 February at 10am
Week 3: drawing with colour - 8 February at 10am
Evening course of 3 classes: opt for course start date 21 February 2024
Week 1: drawing with line - 21 February at 6pm
Week 2: drawing with tone - 28 February at 6pm
Week 3: drawing with colour - 6 March at 6pm

Please note:
- The workshop space for this class is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and does not have lift access.
- The Arienas workshops are planned with adults in mind. Many are suitable for teenagers, but some may require under 16s to be accompanied. Please check with the teacher before booking.
- If you'd like to book this workshop for a private group get-together, it can be brought to a location of your choice. Please get in touch with the teacher for more information.
- Please make sure to select the correct date and time for the course you want to attend.

The Arienas Collective creative workshop hub is located in a beautiful, Georgian mews home in Edinburgh's historic New Town.
The Collective was set up to help local artists and makers earn a living through sharing their creative skills and passions with others. Our name emanates from Loch Arienas: a remote and reflective spot in the Scottish Highlands much loved by founder Lynn Powell.
