Soldering Silver Clay Jewellery Class

Learn to solder your own accessories at this jewellery making workshop!

7 hours Class size 1 to 8 (public classes), 4 to 4 £145
If you're searching for fun new things to do in Edinburgh, why not come and level up your DIY jewellery making skills with this fun, practical workshop?
In this class, taught by Edinburgh jeweller and silver clay specialist Anna Campbell, you will learn the traditional skill of soldering in order to make different types of jewellery including stud earrings and cufflinks.
You'll begin by designing and making stud earrings, cufflinks, and a pendant out of silver clay. Your teacher will cover two different types of soldering, talk about the equipment and materials you need, troubleshooting, and more.
In this workshop, you will learn:
  • How to solder earring posts onto earrings to make studs.
  • How to solder silver cufflink backs onto your silver clay pieces.
  • How to solder a jump ring onto a pendant (instead of drilling a hole)
  • Loads of practical hints and tips.
This is the perfect follow-on to the beginner's workshops and has been requested by our participants! It’s also the right workshop for you if you want to make jewellery to sell or simply wish to make unique pieces for yourself or as gifts for friends.
You will have plenty of supervised practise, and by the end of the day, you should have the confidence and skills you need to start making soldered silver clay jewellery at home.

The Arienas Collective creative workshop hub is located in a beautiful, Georgian mews home in Edinburgh's historic New Town.
The Collective was set up to help local artists and makers earn a living through sharing their creative skills and passions with others. Our name emanates from Loch Arienas: a remote and reflective spot in the Scottish Highlands much loved by founder Lynn Powell.
Discover our space by booking a workshop, or popping along to our Open Day - the only day we open to the public.
