I had not touched a sewing machine in over a decade and she was lovely and helpful to get me up and running. I would definitely recommend this course but likely would say that a little experience with a sewing machine would be beneficial! Lovely environment and would do again to improve as well- great advice given to myself and more experienced sewers! Thanks Robyn!

She knew how best to deal with the fabric and had lots of tips to share. I'd recommend this class for anyone wanting to understand using patterns but also for background on fabrics and building on basics

The class is such a nice learning environment with only 6 people you get so much personalised tuition. I managed to complete my jumpsuit as well as making personalised adjustments so it fits perfectly. I’m already looking into doing another one soon.

Emma is a wonderful, friendly teacher with bundles of knowledge, skill, humour and (importantly) patience. I loved the fact that we could all work on a garment of our own choosing. The class size was small which allowed for individual guidance and attention. I feel more proficient at sewing after completing this course and I have a lovely new summer dress!

I learnt a lot about alterations as I had to unpick top from skirt and shorten the top.  Lots of handy tips too. Very patient and relaxed. Starting a new course in January 2026.

Glad I didn't have to take in my own sewing machine. I liked talking to the teachers and students about sewing, and having the space to sew and cut out a garment.

I’ve learnt so much in these six weeks and it was great to do so in such a friendly and supportive environment. The teaching standard was brilliant; our teacher Cerri was very patient and understanding and full of helpful tips. I would absolutely recommend this course for anyone wanting to make a garment. I am now excited to start my next project.

Although I was already a fairly experienced sewist, I learned many new skills and felt much more confident about tackling more complex patterns by myself in the future. Other classmates were new to garment-making but were supported really well to make some stunning items, so I was impressed at how good a teacher Emma is. I really liked the small class size which meant that we each got enough attention when we needed it. Highly recommended.

Cerri is a hugely knowledgeable and experienced dressmaker, but equally importantly given our novice status, she was kind, patient and generous with her time and wisdom. My daughter and I have now been to two blocks of classes and we can't recommend them highly enough - we've both made garments to be proud of and to enjoy wearing... and learned so much along the way. Big thanks to Cerri, Ali and the other super friendly sewers!

There were 4 of us in the class which gave us plenty of 1-1 teaching and everyone was friendly and helped each other. The class was carefully paced so you never felt in a rush. The first lesson for example was spent reading a pattern and cutting out the pieces and checking we had everything we needed. There was always plenty of time to ask questions and prepare for the next lesson. By the end I had made a beautiful little dress and learned to put in a zip. I would highly recommend this course for anyone starting dress making.

Learnt lots, had a sociable time, give it a go you absolutely won’t regret it. There was the maximum 6 people in our class and we all made unique garments. A pair of trousers, a jumpsuit, an evening gown and evening dress an occasion jumpsuit and I made a dress which Cerri helped me to adapt the pattern to get the style I wanted.

The teacher, Emma, was absolutely delightful and incredibly knowledgeable. She made the process very easy to understand and helped me to learn skills for life. The sewing studio is a tad hard to find within the building (no fault of the studio there, it's just the way the building is laid out) but a very beautiful and cozy space. There is no shortage of teas or tools needed to complete the sewing project - there are even sewing machines at the studio that can be used to make your project, though if you choose a complicated project as I did, there may be some homework to complete between classes, for which you'll need access to a sewing machine elsewhere. The class is excellent value for money, especially when considering that it teaches you a skill that will last a lifetime. I am absolutely thrilled with the way my project turned out, and it wouldn't have been possible without this class and Emma. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Great that everyone gets to choose too so not only do you get a garment you want, you can make it again at home and cement your knowledge. Also means you get to see other peoples’ work and learn from their projects too. Emma was fantastic, so knowledgeable and friendly. The environment was relaxed and class size just right. Would recommend and will do another course after the summer to try a new challenge.

I've been wanting to improve my sewing skills and learn a bit of finesse for a while now and I 100% achieved that and more during the 6 weeks. The class size was small enough that you weren't waiting for help from the teacher, but big enough that you could really benefit from learning some skills from your peers' projects, mistakes, ideas, etc. You definitely need to do some sewing at home between sessions to get everything done by the final class, but I expected that and finished just in time. The teacher, Cerri, is extremely knowledgeable and was able to help, as well as give advice, in every aspect. She was also very encouraging and personable, which just made everything just that much more enjoyable! I sewed a dress to wear to a family member's wedding and I can't WAIT to be able to tell people not only that I made it But that I made it with POCKETS

Cerri was a fantastic teacher and her vast sewing knowledge and experience was evident throughout the six week class. She was extremely patient throughout the whole process and beyond helpful with all of my questions (no matter how silly). I was very happy with the outcome of my dress although I didn’t quite manage to get it finished I was very proud of what I did achieve in the time with my skill set. Definitely give it a go it’s a great environment with lovely people and a very wholesome activity to do as a group.

The teacher (Emma) was fantastic, and so gracious about sharing her stories/experiences of not getting everything right first time, and for giving us space to try, show options and go with the flow. I learned to read patterns, sew a zipper and put pockets in a dress, all new for me. As a cautious and timid sewer this class was amazing for giving me more confidence. As I was sick for one week during the class, I didn't quite finish my project, but I feel like I've got enough skills, knowledge and confidence to finish it and tackle the next one. Will definitely be looking out for future classes.
