Blanc Ceramic Long-Term Courses

Blanc Ceramic's long-term courses are designed for those who wish to delve deeper into the world of ceramic art. Our courses are unique because we do not separate hand-building and wheel-throwing classes. Instead, all students will learn fundamental skills such as kneading clay, hand-building, wheel-throwing, trimming, and glazing. While mastering these techniques, we also encourage our students to explore their creative potential by crafting ceramic pieces that reflect their unique style.

Course Outline:

  • (Beginner Level)
  • Classes 1 and 2: Introduction to the basics of ceramics, clay kneading, and hand-building techniques (small dishes).
  • Classes 3 to 5: Hand-building with hard slabs (boxes).
  • Classes 6 to 8: Understanding glazes and underglaze techniques, along with material exploration.
  • Classes 9 and 10: Hand-building and sculpting techniques (bowls).
  • Classes 11 and 12: Glazing.

After completing the beginner level, you can choose to continue with the intermediate level.
  • (Intermediate Level)
  • Classes 1 to 4: Hand-building flower vases and glazing.
  • Classes 5 to 10: Creating teapots and structural explanations.
  • Classes 11 to 14: Centreing and pulling cylindrical shapes on the wheel.
  • Classes 15 and 16: Trimming techniques and practise.

After the intermediate level, you can further advance to the advanced level. The advanced course initially covers bowl and plate throwing and trimming techniques, after which students are free to create based on their skill level.

Pricing:
  • £180 for 4 classes
  • Tuition fees are paid every 4 classes.
  • Each class is 2 hours.
  • The price includes all basic materials, glazes, and firing.
  • Additional material and firing fees apply for pieces larger than 8" x 8" x 8"(cm).

Ceramics is a craft that requires continuous practice. To ensure that students maintain the appropriate learning pace, long-term course participants must attend classes consistently according to the course schedule. In the event of an absence, makeup classes must be scheduled to catch up on progress. If you can only attend 1 or 2 classes per month, we recommend enrolling in our taster workshop as it may be more suitable for your availability. Please note that the long-term course is intended for more continuous engagement.
