If you're looking for eco-friendly London attractions to try or need therapeutic team building activities, you can't go wrong with this relaxing workshop. Led by an expert teacher, you'll learn all about making a terrarium in a warm, welcoming environment.
Starting with a glass vessel, you'll combine live plants with various natural elements such as soil, stones, sand and moss to create your beautiful biome.
As you create your piece, your guide will explore the history of terrariums, dispense plenty of handy hints about finding the best terrarium plants and teach you how to care for your mini garden.

Art Play London was founded by Silva Castellani in 2018, starting in galleries such as Phillips, and pop up venues around London.
Art Play is now a new art studio which opened in East London in February 2022, where children and adults of all ages are free to release their imaginations and inner creativity.
Art Play has a strong focus and the environment and aims to educate children and adults on their environmental impact through art, using a variety of sustainable mediums and materials.
Art Play is part of the worldwide Precious Plastic community which means it will be a plastic collection point for people to drop off their HDPE plastic which would otherwise end up in landfills or the ocean. The plastic is then shredding and melted and turned into useful objects and pieces of art, such as plant pots and coasters.

We arrived 5 min late (our bad) and the class was already started even though it was only 5 min. The problem was that the class was supposed to last 1 hour and 15 min and after 45 min it was everything done, so we didn’t understand all the hurry at the beginning. Also, there was a lot of noise at the place, and it was a bit hard to follow the teacher. On a positive note, the materials were good and the terrariums look amazing!

The class was fun and we were happy with our take home terrariums. It was a bit quick - we were done in 45 mins or so - and we would have enjoyed a bit more information about terrariums more generally (history/ plant care/ different types) as well as more chance to be creative with different options (only real choice was colour of stones).

The venue is great! We had a small class which was good as we could talk while putting our terrarium’s together. The teacher Irie was great, she was knowledgeable and explained each step and the reasons behind. We also tips on how to look after the plants.

The end result is cute, and there were definitely enough materials. I had fun making a terrarium. It was not crowded.
However, there was a significant lack of explanation and learning in this class. It felt like the instructors provided the materials and kinda left it there. I feel like a shopping list would have been just as useful. Questions I would like answered, such as why do one thing or another, tips for more or less successful terrarium making, which plants to choose, where to source the materials, why do these things work, etc. were not discussed.
The instructors were nice enough, but were not very focused on the class.

I thought the teacher was very helpful but because there was a lot of us, I feel there could have been 2 teachers as she found it hard to keep up. The venue was lovely and though we had some great variation of different materials to use. I would definitely do this class again now I have an idea of what it is about.
Loved that I now have a plant to sit on my desk that doesn't need too much looking after. I would recommend this class.

I really enjoyed our Terrarium Making Workshop. Our teacher was great and talked us through step by step and helped us with our creations. We were provided with the Terrariums, different colour/size stones, soil, moss and small plants to put in our Terrariums. We took our own drinks and snacks to the venue too. Overall the Workshop was fun and we all came away happy with out creations and have them at home :)

We all enjoyed the terrarium workshop. Everything was prepared and set out on the tables ready for our arrival. The tutor gave clear instructions and was happy to provide more stones, soil and plants. Most of us were pleased with the end result and now we are hoping to keep our creations alive. It was useful to be given some care instructions.

Loved this class! The venue was perfect, Aija was great fun and taught us a lot, and my terrarium is absolutely beautiful - I can't wait to give it to my dad for Christmas he's going to love it!
This was such a perfect class for me and my friend to do together - I learnt all the steps to make a terrarium and my finished terrarium looks lovely. I'm so excited to try another at home now that I know how to make it. Our teacher Aija was AMAZING - knowledgeable and friendly!

I went to the address I had which is a shop, it was closed. Then I realised they change the address the day before, so I arrived late. They sent an email but it was in junk emails. The teachers were very sweet but a more informative and educational course would be more interesting. Also the terrarium itself was very basic.

The whole process was wonderful. Everything was provided and a teacher was incredibly friendly and supportive. There was only one inconvenience: uncomfortable venue.
