What you'll do

Note: the price shown is based on two people attending the same session.

Step out of the tube station into the world of glass at this glassblowing experience for two in London. This session is a private class for two people (ie £180 per person.) Whether you're looking for date night ideas in North London or you want to treat a friend to a crafty catch-up, you'll learn the basics of this heritage craft under the guidance of an experienced teacher. During this session you will be making two pieces each that will be yours to keep.

After a quick introduction to cover basic health and safety, you'll then immerse yourselves in the process of making glass, using traditional tools and your own breath to shape molten glass. During the workshop, you will be able to choose your shapes and colours to make a dazzling array of glass which will be yours to keep and treasure.

You will be introduced to techniques such as:

Gathering molten glass from a furnace.
Shaping and working the glass using a variety of tools.
Working with glass colours.
Blowing glass.

All materials and safety equipment will be ready and waiting for you, so all you need to do is show up and get ready to create. You'll leave the experience feeling creatively fulfilled, warmed by the furnace and eagerly awaiting your handmade glass pieces.

Please note: Your glass will have to be annealed overnight and have to be picked up or posted out to you at a later date at a cost of £30.00 per box.

Please wear closed toe shoes and tie long hair back. You may be more comfortable in long sleeves but this is not necessary.

Hello,

I'm a glassblower with a studio in London. I fell in love with hot glass during a taster session on her BA hons course.

After graduating I worked in several glass studios and attended classes at Pilchuck and Haystack in the US. In 2000 I did an MA at the Royal College of Art.

Hot glass is an amazing creative outlet, I love sharing the joy of working with this fantastic material.
