French Cooking Class

Transport your taste buds to an enchanting land of gastronomy in this French cooking class with the friendly folk over at the Edinburgh New Town Cookery School.

You'll start the day by saying bonjour to the class with a coffee or tea. You'll then watch some handy demonstrations by a talented chef, where you'll get insights into some of the cooking techniques and recipes you'll learn that day.

From there, it's time to roll up your sleeves and learn to cook some classic delights from French cuisine. Discover the incredible diversity of France's fabulous fare and explore its regional nuances and unique flavours.

Finally, as the dishes come together, you'll have the pleasure of savouring your creations during a leisurely lunch. Sit back, raise a glass of fine wine, and relish in the flavours of France! Sounds like the perfect way to spend time with friends?

In this class, you will learn to cook:

• Bouillabaisse with Rouille and Croutons (Marseille, Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur)
• Saute de Poulet a L’Angevine (The Loire) (sauteed Chicken served with baby onions and mushrooms)
• Tarte Normande (Normandy) (glazed flan containing frangipane and apples)
• Twice baked Cheese Soufflés (small souffle baked in a bain marie and turned out to bake again in a hot oven)

• The recipes made in this class contain gluten, nuts, eggs and dairy and are not suitable for vegetarians or vegans (please note this list is not exhaustive).
• Please let us know of any dietary requirements, allergies or special accommodations required at the time of booking. We will be as flexible as possible when we can, so as to be inclusive to all students but we may not be able to substitute ingredients in the recipes.
• We do everything we can to reduce the risk of cross-contamination, however, we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment and therefore our kitchens may be unsuitable for students with severe or life-threatening allergies.

• Our one-day workshops and short courses are 16+ unless otherwise specified. Children aged 14 or 15 may attend with an adult over 18.
• On the day, please arrive 15 minutes before your workshop is due to start.
