Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience for candle making classes?

Not at all! No prior experience is needed to join candle making classes. ClassBento classes are created specifically for beginners and first-time makers. Your passionate instructor will guide you step-by-step. The goal is simple: have fun, and you'll create something amazing!

Are candle making classes worth the investment in time and money?

Absolutely! Candle making classes are highly worthwhile. Not only do you gain a new skill and have a great time, but you also walk away with a fantastic, handmade keepsake - making it a great investment.

How much do candle making classes in the UK generally cost?

Candle making classes typically range from £20 to £90 per person. The price reflects the quality of materials and the expertise of your instructor, varying slightly based on inclusions, duration, and location.

What is the best way to learn candle making classes as a beginner?

The best way to learn candle making is through a hands-on workshop. An expert instructor provides immediate, personalised guidance, which helps you identify and correct mistakes, and build your skills and confidence faster than trying to learn alone.

What should I wear to a candle making class?

We always recommend choosing clothes that you don't mind getting wax on – just in case you get enthusiastic while pouring! Think relaxed, casual clothing. It's also a good idea to wear closed-toe shoes for safety, as you'll be working with warm wax. Mostly, just wear something that allows you to move freely and comfortably, so you can get stuck into creating your beautiful, scented masterpieces without any worries!

What are the most common candle making mistakes?

The most frequent ‘oops’ moments usually involve temperature! Pouring wax when it’s too hot can cause shrinkage or ‘sinkholes,’ while adding fragrance oil to cool wax means the scent won’t bind properly. Another classic is picking the wrong wick size – if it's too small, your candle will tunnel, but our expert teachers will show you exactly how to get that perfect, even burn every time!

Do candle making workshops make good celebrations?

Absolutely! They’re a great choice for birthdays, hen dos, or unique team-building days. There’s something incredibly bonding about gathering around a melting pot, sharing fragrance blends, and getting creative together. Plus, everyone gets a handmade party favour to take home – it’s a win-win!

Are the candle making supplies vegan or eco friendly?

In most cases, yes! Many of our talented teachers prioritise planet-friendly crafting by using 100% natural coconut, rapeseed or soy wax for candle making, which are vegan and biodegradable. While some traditional classes might use beeswax, you can easily check the class description to ensure your materials are as green as they are gorgeous.
