What you'll do

Looking for fun things to do in Liverpool? Pop along to this candle making class, where you'll learn the simplest and quickest way to produce luxury natural soy wax scented candles in your favourite containers.

During this workshop, your friendly, knowledgeable teacher will show you how to make and refill your own candles and have the confidence to create your own large 250ml scented soy wax candle to take home and enjoy.

There'll be a curated collection of fragrances for you to choose from, all paraben free quality fragrance oils, specially blended by a UK supplier.

The workshop lasts around one hour: during the extra half hour for your candle to set ready to take home, you and your fellow students will have a break, where you can treat yourself to a cake and coffee in the Merseymade cafe.

Don't worry if you've never made candles before, as the class is designed for complete beginners, and you'll have the full support of your teacher throughout — you can even get the kids involved! Whether you're after thoughtful birthday gifts for mum or just want to fill your home with handmade candles, you can't go wrong with this workshop.

My love of candles started many years ago and as a result had lots of candles containers I did not want to throw away. I have spent many years perfecting and simplifying the candle making process and now teach and inspire other candle lovers to make their own. You will learn how to make luxury candles and have the choice to refill or reuse containers with ease.
Come and join me at one of my candle classes and make your own luxury scented candle to take home and enjoy.

The teacher was so patient and informative, kept the class interesting! The venue was also beautiful and it meant that during the 30 mins we had to let our candle set we could wander around the shop and look at work from local/independent artists and brands. I felt as though I learnt so much, the candle smells beautiful and I will definitely be purchasing more items from the teacher in the future to use what I’ve learned and make candles at home!

Really enjoyed this workshop. Loved the smell of the candle that I made and the explanation of how to make the candle was really good and simple to understand. Would definitely recommend! Looking forward to using my candle and the refill kit I purchased. Would have been nice if the refill kit came with one jar as makes it easier to give as gift or I can make 2 candles at the same time.

Class was really informative and fun.

Only suggestion I would make would be as there was a lot of waiting around, plan the timing of talks better to fill waiting periods any maybe provide refreshments, simple tea & coffee.

I took me and my mum for a nice afternoon workshop booked in advance and it was interesting to know the knowledge of candles, the different types of wax used etc and we used soya wax which is environmentally friendly and vegan as well which is a double win. To make the candle was so easy and straight forward. I would recommend this fun activity.

Was a very enjoyable experience for 3 complete novices. The process of candle making was simplified so that it can easily be replicated. The materials provided were good and the teaching was informative and thorough. The building itself is worth visiting on its own and had a nice snack when waiting for the wax to set. Room itself was fine and materials and choice provided very good. Would recommend as an experience gift to others

I arranged this class as for the senior management team as a surprise. They all really enjoyed the class and were so pleased they could take home a candle too. They are going to look at booking some classes for their teams on away days.

The teacher was friendly and give some good advice about which candles to buy in shops as some wax has nasty toxins. She also had some packs you could buy on the day to make more candles at home.

The venue was easy to find and a lovely place, they sold lots of nice gifts and the café did great food too.

Thank you for a brilliant afternoon and I'm sure you will hear from Riverside again :)

Great candle making class. The teacher was very warm and welcoming who knew her subject well. The venue was lovely very light and airy. I liked the fact that we all sat around a large table it was perfect for the class. The fact that we were able to select our own fragrances was great there was a good choice to choose from. I did not expect to be decorating the candles, so this was an added bonus. I think the cost of the class was very reasonable and affordable. This learning experience has given me more confidence to make my own candles particular how and when to add fragrances. Thank you I would definitely recommend to others.
