Join us for an exciting journey into the world of sock design and knitting in our three-week sock design class. Craft a pair of socks that not only fit you like a glove but also bear a unique design entirely of your own creation. This class is open to knitting enthusiasts with some experience – no prior sock-making knowledge required. Just bring your needles and enthusiasm!
Session 1: Crafting Your Sock Blueprint
In our first session, we'll delve into the art of sock construction. Learn the intricate details of how a sock comes together, and explore the exciting process of personalizing different parts of your sock. We'll kick off by casting on your project, setting the stage for your one-of-a-kind sock design.
Session 2: Heel Heights and Turns
Session two is all about the heel. Discover the various types of heels and master the art of the heel turn. We'll guide you through this essential step to ensure your socks fit snugly and comfortably.
Session 3: Toes and The Finishing Touch
In our final session, we'll turn our attention to the toes. Explore different toe styles and techniques for closing the sock. You'll leave this class with not only a beautifully designed pair of socks but also the skills and confidence to craft more on your own.
Throughout the three sessions, you'll have time between classes to knit and progress to the next step. By the end of this workshop, you'll not only have a fabulous pair of socks but also the knowledge to continue designing and knitting your own unique creations. Proficiency in both knitting and purling is essential for this Sock Course.
What to bring
Please bring your own yarn and needles to the class. We recommend sock yarn, and whatever needles are necessary to achieve the desired tension for your project. This way, you can ensure that your socks will fit and feel just right. Don't worry if you forget your materials; we'll have some available for borrowing at the studio.
