Looking to get your hands dirty and unleash your creativity? Join our wheel throwing class in London and immerse yourself in the art of pottery making. Over five engaging sessions, learn the intricacies of wedging, centring, pulling, and throwing a variety of shapes, starting with bowls and progressing to cylinders and plates.

  • Week 1: Dive into the basics of pottery making with an introduction to essential techniques.
  • Week 2: Hone your skills by creating larger and taller pieces, with a tutorial on trimming your work.
  • Week 3: Expand your repertoire with new shapes like cylinders and plates.
  • Week 4: Explore free-throwing techniques, trimming, and handle-making, with the opportunity to select your favourite pieces for firing.
  • Week 5: Discover the art of glazing as you dip and paint your pots, creating unique and personalized pieces to take home.

Knowledge required
All levels are welcome. The teacher will adapt the course depending on your skills, from beginners to advanced.
 
What you'll get
  • Collect your piece from Claystation in usually 2-3 weeks' time.
  • The class includes all materials (clay, tools, glazes, etc...)
  • Maximum class size - 5 people.
What to bring
  • Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dusty and dirty.
  • Comfortable shoes.
  • Bring your own apron if you want (we provide if not).
  • Bring water.
Session repeats

This class series runs over 5 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.

Claystation is a small pottery school in the heart of east London. The main Teacher Gioia Sulas from Florence has been throwing pots since the 80s and will guide you through the history and ceramic techniques.
