In this two-part advanced throwing workshop, you will have the opportunity to enhance your pottery skills and learn how to approach new shapes with confidence. Guided by the experienced potter Gioia Sulas, who has over 30 years of experience in the craft, you can look forward to an immersive two and a half hours of instruction and hands-on practice.

During the first session, the focus will be on perfecting your throwing techniques. Gioia will share her extensive knowledge and provide you with all the tricks and tips you need to create beautiful pottery on the wheel. From centering the clay to shaping intricate forms, you will gain valuable insights that will take your throwing abilities to the next level.

In the second session, attention will turn to trimming. You will learn how to refine and finish your creations, giving them a polished and professional look. Gioia will guide you through the process, sharing her expertise on trimming techniques that will elevate your pottery to new heights.

After the workshop, you will even have the opportunity to continue the pottery journey with Gioia. Feel free to have a conversation with her about additional sessions or exploring the art of glazing. Her wealth of knowledge and passion for pottery make her an excellent resource for those looking to delve deeper into this rewarding craft.

Please note that all materials will be provided for the workshop, and you can trust that Gioia will create a welcoming and supportive environment. Knowledge required
This is a more advanced course, so it works really well if you can already throw a little.
 
What you'll get
  • Make as many pieces as you want and choose your favourite ones for the teacher to fire and glaze.
  • Collect your piece from Claystation in usually 2-3 weeks' time.
  • The class includes all materials (clay and tools).
What to bring
  • Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dusty and dirty.
  • Comfortable shoes.
  • Bring your own apron if you like (we provide if not).
  • Bring water.

This class series runs over 2 consecutive sessions, which are 1 week apart.

Claystation is a small pottery school in the heart of east London. The main Teacher Gioia Sulas from Florence has been throwing pots since the 80s and will guide you through the history and ceramic techniques.
