What you'll do
Looking for unusual hen-do ideas in London, planning a foodie birthday party or want some team-building activities the whole gang will love? Join the artisan bakers at Bread Ahead and learn to make some traditional, delicious flatbreads.
In this half-day workshop, you’ll make a range of both leavened and unleavened flatbreads harkening from the Middle East.
Under the expert tutelage of one of Bread Ahead's expert bakers, you’ll learn all the skills and techniques to create pitta (the iconic Arabic bread), lavash (the Armenian flatbread used for wraps which can be stuffed and flavoured) and sangak (a wholewheat sourdough flatbread that’s slightly thicker than the other two).
Through a mix of expert demonstrations and hands-on making, you'll build your skills and confidence as you mix, knead and shape these sensational staples before baking to perfection. No matter your level of kitchen experience, you'll leave the class having learned something new, with an armful of delicious bakes to impress your friends and family.
Your class can be held in one of three bakery schools: Borough Market, Wembley or Chelsea.
Please note:
This class uses wheat, dairy and mustard. Unfortunately recipes cannot be tailored for substitutions or alterations, as these can fundamentally change the composition and outcome of the recipes. For more information regarding ingredients, please contact your teacher before booking your course.

Matthew started his working life as a chef. His first 15 years were spent working alongside some of the best chefs in the UK throughout the 90s. In 2000 he set up his first bakery business. Based in the renowned Borough Market, Bread Ahead has become a destination for Londoners and food fanatics across the globe.
The Bakery School opened in February 2014 and is designed to show the public just how easy baking good bread can be.
Since then, Bread Ahead has grown – the school at Borough has expanded and Matthew has since opened further bakeries and schools in Pavilion Road, Chelsea, Wembley and a café bakery in Beak Street, Soho.
