Had a fantastic evening at the Mosaic class. John was an informative and engaging instructor who provided great advice from start to finish. I didn’t get to finish my design but John made sure I had enough materials to finish at home and gave clear instructions for grouting at home, also. The evening was so fun and creative.

Lucy Jennings Jun 2024

Very welcoming and kind staff, the studio space is lovely, really enjoyable class! Great value for money.

Jasmine Jun 2024

It was very creative and it was interesting how everyone had different designs. I learned many techniques to create my work and the teacher was very helpful. The venue was spacious and the class was very good value for money.

Sue Fergy Jun 2024

Fab evening of learning how to mosaic. John, the teacher, was really good - warm, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Two and a half hours flew by. Very relaxing absorbing class after a busy day.

Astrid Brassington-Fuchs Jun 2024

The venue was really nice and it was great that they make sure that everyone has enough space and isn't cramped.
You can do multiple items but I only focused on doing one properly. It is really nice that they post you the items afterwards so you don't have to carry them around.
The teacher was very nice and encouraging to try out new things and experiment.

Sofia Foresti Jun 2024

I loved the class!
I spent such a nice time during this time.
The space is big, bright and cool.
The teacher was lovely, very knowledge and helpful.
Definitely happy to do it again

I have been to one previous all-day workshop elsewhere and wanted to see what Art4Space is like. I liked the venue/set up/ vibe and John, the teacher, was very helpful. It was difficult to choose which tiles to use as so many and all stacked up so difficult to see all the options available. I learnt more about using the tools but only used a few basic techniques, e.g. didn't have time to make circles. I think it was a bit dangerous with glass bits potentially flying about - could we not be given some type of plastic container to do the glass cutting in? Liked the glass of wine too but would the class be a bit cheaper without it? The main thing was lack of time. I had come up with a basic design before coming but I still felt a bit rushed - like one of those competitions on TV (sewing bee etc - "you've got 5 mins left"). Could the class not go on till 9.30/ 10pm? I was hoping to chat with other people but that didn't happen and we didn't show each other what we were doing. Maybe have a 5 min break in the middle to see each other's progress and then at the end? I am thinking of booking for 5 classes. I would like to send you a photo of my piece, once I've grouted/polished it up (later today!)

Bernadette Johnen-Baxter Jun 2024

Lovely atmosphere, not rushed, well explained and very attentive. Thank you very much we had a great time!

Great experience!
The teacher was funny, super approachable and really made an effort to explain things well and make sure everyone understood so that we got the best out of the class.
It was a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon being creative.
The glass of wine was very welcome too :)

I booked a private class for 9 ladies as a celebration for a hen-do. Our teacher was blue who was amazing. They really had a lot of patience, was very attentive to our needs, helped everyone out throughout the workshop and explained everything really well. We all had a blast. It was very easy to organize via ClassBento. They also provided us with alcohol free drinks and vegan biscuits. Great value for money. I would highly recommend.

Shannon Vaughan May 2024

John was friendly, setting a comfortable space from the get go. A great teacher, giving clear instructions, patient and supportive. A really lovely evening!

Beverly Folan May 2024

I really enjoyed this class, such a fun and interesting way to use clay. The tutor Daisy was lovely, so welcoming, patient and knowledgeable around the process of making a spiral bowl from clay. The studio is a calm, relaxed environment and the music was great too! It's quite incredible what she shows you how to make. You start with a lump of clay and at the end of the class you have this beautiful, intricate bowl. Can't wait to see what it will look like once it's been fired and glazed. This is a great class for beginners and also for people who have experience with handbuilding clay. A really great, fun evening. I will definitely return!

Katherine Tunaley May 2024

Daisy was everything you look for in a wonderful teacher, especially for first timers to pottery: clear in her explanations of technique, kind, skilful, and above all, patient! The class flew by we were having such a great time working and chatting away. Thank you Daisy & volunteer Bev for creating such a fun, friendly & calming environment for us! Can’t wait to see how our bowls turn out.

Colette May 2024

This workshop was a Christmas present for my partner, as we were supposed to attend one whilst we were on holiday in Japan, but couldn’t.

We loved it! Our tutors were very welcoming and we enjoyed the Green Tea provided on arrival. They were very engaging and helpful throughout the workshop and the time flew by. We really liked our finished pieces and I bought the kit to finish the piece I brought from home.

I would definitely recommend this workshop to friends and family.

Vicky May 2024

We had a lovely afternoon learning kinsugi basics. It was straightforward and relaxing. We were well looked after and supplied with drinks and snacks. It’s a lovely space and we hope to return in the future. It was good value and the tutors were there to help out when I went wrong (thank you for both occasions, John!).

Alison Scammell May 2024

My daughter had bought the mosaics class for me as a present. I had a great evening (all the more appreciated after a stressful day of work - doing the mosaic kept me fully in the moment, I didn't think of anything else). Everything was provided including really easy to follow grouting instructions to do at home. Drinks were available - the others had wine or beer but I was driving (otherwise I would have had some wine!). It was really nice to chat to others in the class and see what they were doing - we all took a different approach in our designs. The teacher was lovely and she is clearly very experienced. The venue was great - tucked away just behind a busy London road was a welcoming sanctuary from all the usual hustle and bustle. I love my mosaic effort and have posted it on Instagram and shared with friends and family - for a first attempt I am very pleased with it and thinking of making some more mosaics - very therapeutic and a fantastic way to express creativity. I highly recommend this course.

I had a lovely time! The teacher was great. The demonstration was easy to follow and they had a good awareness of each individual student.
The class was engaging and there was a wide range of materials provided.
The photos are pre-grouting.

Flora May 2024

It was my friend's birthday present. It was a great time. The teacher was always around but gave us a lot of free will to figure it all out ourselves. A really fun experience. It takes a lot of concentration and the hours fly by!
He provided us with snacks and drinks and was very helpful

Emily Ch'ng May 2024

It was good, I learnt a lot and was happy with being able to make two kintsugi pieces. The teacher was nice, knowledgeable and cared a lot about delivering a good workshop. It was great to have complimentary tea, coffee snacks and alcoholic drinks.

Areas of improvement could be to be a bit clearer with filing techniques or time management and also how much glue to use. Some of the instructions were a bit vague, maybe purposefully so, but it got a bit confusing at times!

Jennifer Aragon May 2024

Loved this class. John, the teacher, was fantastic. Great value and good fun. The studio was great and such a good cause. Would highly recommend!

Deniz May 2024

Lovely and spacious venue, very attentive teacher. Offered refreshments and deinks throughout. Enjoyed the class a lot and definitely recommend it.

Ilaria Montrone Apr 2024

My girlfriends got it for me for my birthday and I honestly couldn’t have wished for a better present. This Kintsugi class was so much fun, I loved doing something crafty and the teachers were so patient with, taking us through all the steps.
I went home with two beautiful pieces and gifted myself an afternoon of self-care. Highly recommend!

Lucy Nicholls Apr 2024

This class is such brilliant value! Visiting Art4Space and hearing about their passion for the community and what they've done to protect the project over the last 25 years was a treat in of itself. The building is so sweet and surprisingly modern, i loved spying all the mosaics in the garden. Natalie was a brilliant instructor, patient and calm, encouraging everyone and making you feel great about your creations. The session was surprisingly calming and therapeutic and honestly i wouldn't have minded leaving empty handed, the evening itself was so lovely! Knowing i've got ceramics on the way is a bonus! Learning new techniques, having free drinks and nibbles, plus trying a new range of glaze colours (there were more red and orange tones on offer than when i signed up which was great), you really get a lot for your £.
Tip: make sure you access the building from Jeffreys Road and not the way Google Maps takes you! ;)

Great, enthusiastic teachers. The session was a good length to get everything done in and the tea and coffee making facilities were a nice extra. I liked paying less for the class and then having the option to pay for the kit to take home if you wanted. This made it more financially accessible.

Fantastic class! My friend and I are doing a different creative activity per month and this has been my favourite one yet!
The teacher was lovely and gave us lots of great information, and there were so many materials to choose from.
Glass of wine was a lovely touch as well, and it’s great that the costs go back in to the community, can’t wait to go back!

Was a surprise event organised by my daughters for Mother’s Day. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
The teacher showed us techniques and guided us to make our mosaic mirrors

Dr May Myanmar Mar 2024

Excellent gift idea if wanting to do something more creative! Really enjoyed the class where we made mosaic mirrors. I only wish we had time to have some of the snacks as we were too focused on trying to finish the pieces. Depending on the idea for your mosaic piece you should factor in time for executing it as I think a few of us were focused alot of detail and trying to make our pieced look great but then realised we did not have that long left to finish then it was a scramble to try and complete them but we got there in the end and our teacher was very patient with us. 100% would recommend this class and any others on offer with Art4Space.

Rebecca Welsh Mar 2024

An amazing class! Perfect for Mother’s Day - we all loved it

Snacks and drinks were supplied, relaxing music - good vibes all around :)

Naomi Beevers Mar 2024

We had a great time at the Kintsugi class. The teacher was welcoming and inspiring.
Everything we needed was provided (although I did take along a couple of my own broken ceramics), including refreshments. Wine, tea and biscuits. What’s not to like!
The venue was easy to find, well equipped and conveniently located for the tube.
The instructions were clear and we all managed to complete at least one piece without feeling rushed.
We were celebrating a big birthday and we will have lovely memories and also our mended ceramics which we will treasure.

Nettie was an amazing teacher. Her teaching style and encouragement was brilliant!
Will definitely sign up for more classes.

Venue good and accessible. Near to

It’s a charitable organisation- giving back to the community

Lovely venue, in a large studio, all tools provided as well as the cockery for you to break and reassemble.
Lot of drinks and snacks offered by the teacher.
Really lovely atmosphere overall, high recommend

John was great at leading the class! He was only meant to assist someone else, but did but a great job on his own.

He taught us about the art of kintsugi and explained/demonstrated each step clearly.

I was able to get two pieces done; one provided by the workshop and another for a broken glass I brought with me.

My friends and I had such a great time at our hand building pottery class! It was a lovely, relaxed environment and our teacher was excellent at explaining the different techniques and great at helping each person achieve their vision for their pottery pieces. The art studio itself was a great space, and our teacher invited us to help ourselves to tea, coffee, wine, beer, fruit and biscuits - all included in the cost of the class. The fact that your pottery gets glazed for you and sent by post is even better - it's so easy to receive your pottery when it's ready!

Max Arkell Jan 2024

Great course! Our teacher was really knowledgeable and very patient with all of us. really great explanation of the process and history of the techniques. Perfect gift for my Mum who loved it as well!

Carlos Gonzalez-Martos Jan 2024

Great experience! Very engaging teacher, good tools provided, comfy facilities (and particularly convenient for me). And all this for a reasonable price that gets reinvested in a charity that works with local children.
Each of us got to fix a piece of ceramic (some even two!). I would recommend to bring your own piece, even better if it is a piece with some history.

Julie & Jan 2024

John was a great instructor. Funny, approachable and clear about how we should best approach our tasks.
The venue was spacious and very well equipped and even with 17 eager students John was able to get round to all of us and answer all our questions.
On top of that the refreshments provided were amazing and John managed all of that without being rushed or flustered.

What was the teacher like? The teacher was kind, patient, and clearly passionate about his craft. He always checked in with us and helped us when we needed a hand. He offered to teaching more specific techniques if we needed them for our art piece.

How was the venue (if applicable)? the venue was lovely, really inviting and colourful and had a large table which made it easier to socialise with people. It was cosy and warm inside and they offered tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit.

If materials were provided, did you like them? everything we needed to make our mosaics was provided. They had a HUGE selection of ceramic and glass tiles.

Was the experience good value for money? yes definitely!

Fiona Blades Jan 2024

Our teacher was amazing - so patient and clear in helping us through each stage of the process. At the end we have beautiful bowls but we also bonded as a team (coming together for the first time) and were able to take many of the elements of kintsugi into the strategy day we were running the next day. The drinks and snacks were a lovely touch. Thank you!

The teacher (?John - a Scottish guy) was so friendly and welcoming. My nearly 12yr old really enjoyed learning to make the 3 different pottery objects and if she had any questions he was more than willing to help. Loved and appreciated the tea and treats that were offered. Venue had parking on the street and instructions were clear on where to find it. Art studio was warm and had clean toilets. Would highly recommend.

A wonderful evening spent learning the art of kintsugi, which was a birthday treat from my son. The venue (in Clapham) was an inspirational place to be; the other 11 classmates and I were made to feel welcomed and relaxed by the tutors and I left with two 'kintsugi'd' bowls and a peaceful mind.

The venue was good - not cold, considering how cold it was outside and I appreciated the sign outside.

John and his assistant were super patient, clear in directions and helped us all to achieve the goal of the session = to create a Kintsugi piece! The drinks were good and loved the music in the background.

The pieces to select from were diverse and beautiful! The time also seemed long but with the gluing process sometimes being a pain, it was just enough time for two pieces! I would definitely recommend!

Yani King Oct 2023

A very relaxed and friendly session!

I get a little anxious trying new things and going to new places by myself. The venue is really easy to find on maps and there is a clear sign out front.

The teacher, John, created a calming environment where you felt comfortable to ask questions and let your creativity take you. John went at an easy pace where the steps were clearly broken down and you were learning together. You have the opportunity to make two pieces, the first where you are learning together, and the second to put learning into practice.

The session provides you with everything you will need, including snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). You can also purchase a kit after the class with the tools, so you can carry on at home.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed myself and can't wait to put my new skills to practice at home. Thank you

The experience was a lot of fun, our teachers were very helpful and the atmosphere great. The glue was uncooperative but that's life. It was a very pleasant experience and I'd highly recommend it to groups, pairs and solo individuals, no prior knowledge of anything creative required. It's a moment away from the noise of life and the doing really focuses you on the action in front of you and nothing else.

Such a memorable and wholesome experience! Our teacher, John, was really friendly, positive, and great at tailoring the class to the group's pace, taking us through each of the 3 hand-pottery techniques step-by-step. The studio was well-equipped, light, breezy, and surrounded by an adorable community garden, with plenty of inspiration from books and the art on the walls. We each also got to keep 3 of the pieces we made after having them glazed for us, which is pretty amazing value for money, especially considering the central location. Thank you ClassBento and John for helping us celebrate my sister's bachelorette party! I can't recommend this highly enough to others and can't wait for the next birthday/excuse to try one of their other craft classes :)

Wonderful session. Good teachers who were very helpful. Workshop is set on lovely grounds and easy to find. Nice refreshments and well laid out workshop. To be fair the only reason they got four stars instead of five just on the cost for 10 people, it would have been nice to have a slightly cheaper price for a big group booking. Besides that there was nothing to fault. It’s a gods first date idea or family activity or even just for yourself if you need a little me time. Highly recommend it. The teacher was lovely!
The venue was wonderful, and the hospitality (thee, coffee, wine) was great. The little dishes we broke and repaired were lovely too. The instructions re the ‘how to‘ were good though could be tweaked a bit as most of us ended up with slightly messy results… however, the teacher was interested to hear from participants about what they had seen on YouTube re techniques and try these out herself there and then with great results … Altogether I much enjoyed the evening and have worked some more on my gold line repairs at home my little dishes look beautiful now!

The teacher was really welcoming, experienced and kind - immediately felt comfortable even though I arrived slightly late by a few minutes.
The venue is beautiful and well kept and the materials provided were more than enough - the takeaway gift was a nice touch.
The one thing I have a comment on is that I’d like a tad bit more guidance on what I was making - it was my first attempt in mosaic and it wasn’t looking great while the other 3 participants got a bit more attention and I wonder if it was because their works were much better/interesting artistically. I think the overall experience was good but definitely it is more enjoyable if you go with a friend rather than alone.
