£35 - £45 (£35 for Public class; £45 for Private class) (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

You’ll shape a small, illuminated structure: a niche, arch, window, ledge, and form designed to hold a tealight or small candle and cast warm shadows as the evenings draw in. It can be freestanding or wall-mounted.
Suitable for all levels, this session encourages intuitive making, sculptural thinking, and the meditative pace of working with clay. Your shrine can be symbolic, playful, architectural, organic, or devotional — the form is entirely yours.
What you’ll do:
  • Slab building to form foundations
  • Constructing small architectural or sculptural structures
  • Creating openings, niches, alcoves, and windows for candlelight
  • Carving, smoothing, and refining surfaces for character and clarity
  • Adding motifs, textures, and decorative details. Choose from our earthenware glaze dips
To finish, we will bisque-fire, glaze-dip, and fire again, then return your finished shrine to you by post within 4–6 weeks.
Proceeds go towards our community art projects, providing mental well-being and creative health, especially for those facing barriers.
What you'll get
  • Professional tools, materials, and aprons are provided.
  • Firing, glazing, and postage are all included in the ticket cost.
  • Refreshments, including a glass of wine/bottle of beer if desired, unlimited tea and coffee, soft drinks, and nibbles.
  • Your finished candle shrine will be carefully wrapped and posted to you, and we aim to deliver within 6 weeks.
  • 10% off in our studio shop.
