If you’re looking for an opportunity to unleash your creative side and get stuck into a new hobby, our screen printing classes in London will have you crafting up a storm in no time. Guided by an expert artist, you’ll learn how to create a beautiful visual design and then transfer it to a surface of your choice using specialist screen printing methods - from book covers to bags, wall canvases to clothes, we’ll help make all of your silk screen printing dreams come true. If you’re a creative soul looking for the best things to do in London this weekend, you’ve come to the right place!
Screen printing for beginners
Screen printing originated in China around AD 221 where it was used as a method of transferring beautifully intricate images onto fabric, but is most famous for its use in the bold artworks of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichenstein and Robert Rauschenberg. If you’ve ever dreamed of rolling up your sleeves and getting messy with inks but didn’t know where to start, you’ve come to the right place. Whether you want to get crafty in Clapham or try printing in Piccadilly, our screen printing classes in London will help you channel your inner artist and discover all the screen printing techniques you need to create your own masterpiece!
Don’t know your squeegee from your spatula but would love to have a go at some printed designs? We’ve got you covered! Our screen printing courses are ideal for total beginners or those with a little more experience. Get together with fellow newbie screen printers and enjoy a class with pre-prepared screens to get you started in this fun craft. Or if you’ve already got a bit of prior knowledge, you can develop your skills by exploring different screen printing methods and learning the methods you need to create your very own designs. Led by a professional printer, you’ll be in safe hands as they guide you through the screen printing process and stay by your side throughout your class to help you build your abilities.
What to expect at London screen printing classes
Whether you’re visiting the city on a minibreak and are looking for fun things to do in London, or if you just want creative ways to explore your local area, screen printing classes will tick all your boxes and take your weekend from drab to fab in no time! Learn how to create your own custom printed wall art, keep it planet friendly with eco-friendly screen printing or brighten up some old clothes with t-shirt printing classes - there’s something for everyone! Screen printing workshops make great social activities too, so if you’re trying to plan a unique birthday party or you want to organise a fun team building event for your hard working colleagues, grab your gang and get printing.
Held at a spacious art studio, your screen printing adventure in the city will begin with a warm welcome from your talented teacher. They’ll introduce you to the craft, talk you through the history of design and printing, and show you some examples of silk screen printed artworks - most famously, the iconic Marilyn Monroe piece by Andy Warhol. Then it’s onto a safety lesson, as your teacher familiarises you with all of the tools and chemicals involved in the screen printing process, before equipping you with your own craft kit packed with everything you need to get creative and produce a masterpiece of your own. You’ll finish the session feeling relaxed and happy, with a wonderful work of art and enough skills to be able to explore screen printing at home.
Screen printing is great for your wellbeing
Whether you’ve been working extra hard or life has just been getting a bit busy, taking time out from the daily grind to indulge in a creative activity is a great way to recharge those batteries - and we think screen printing is a perfect option! You’ll be able to switch off from the world and lose yourself in the design process, creating wondrous wall art, brilliant bags and tremendous t-shirts through the gentle and meditative screen printing process.
