I am a visual artist and arts educator working with colour, textiles, minerals, clay, seeds, flowers and pigments that I carefully gather from plants around me and nearby.

I specialise in sustainable wellbeing workshops and creative mindful sessions for community groups, CPD and staff training for small companies and institutions.

I have been working with natural dyes since 2019 and have an extensive experience planning and delivering creative and engaging sustainable workshops for people of all ages and many backgrounds.

I see these experiences as tools for learning but also for grounding and reflection that aim to connect with ourselves and with others in a supportive, non judgemental safe space. Interested in mental health and wellbeing, I nurture environments where people can reach a deeper level of understanding of their feelings and emotions, allowing time for play and exploration with a focus on the process of making and collective learning.

I am so happy I was able to experience the Itajime Shibori with Botanical Dyes workshop, it was such an enriching experience! Renata knowledge in the traditional Japanese art of Shibori while incorporating natural dyes sourced from botanical materials was such a rewarding experience. I have never practiced this technique before, but the teacher was very patient and guided us through the steps and we got to take a piece home. I LOVE IT!

I've done a few workshops with Renata such as inkmaking, bundle dying and embroidery - they've all been magical journeys. Her passion is infectious and it's a real joy to be part of the organic and experimental classes filled with lots of geeky, witchy playfulness. Renata's knowledge of and relationship with these materials and processes are vast, and I specifically appreciate her resourcefulness with a focus on sustainability and wellbeing. I always feel very at ease and inspired. She brings the wonder of a child, with the care, warmth and experience of a granny!

We really learnt a lot from the teacher, and had so much fun learning about the different techniques and plants that can be used. Amazing takeaway with such a beautiful scarf at the end - we can't wait to do more! Thank you so much!

Renata was really inspiring - and I learned a lot of general practical info which is what i wanted. She is right that it would be a good idea to do classes that revolve around colour in the morning!

Teacher's response

Thank you so much for coming, Jenifer and for your review! I hope I inspired you to start your Natural Dye Journey :)
