Metalwork Classes and Experience Gifts UK

Searching for cool things to do in Edinburgh? Maybe you’re heading off to the capital for a weekend break and want to find quirky London activities for you and your pals? From exciting hen party activities in Bristol to fun things to do in Liverpool for couples, we think a metalwork class or forge experience is going to make it a memorable occasion – for all the right reasons! And with craft classes available in locations all over the UK, you can get crafty with metal in Manchester, have fun with blacksmithing in Bristol or whip up some wire art in Edinburgh!

If you’ve never visited a forge before, don’t worry – our workshops are completely beginner-friendly and are led by experienced blacksmiths and welding pros who’ll show you the way. They’ll introduce you to the craft, share some tips and techniques for soldering success and stay on hand during the entire session to make sure you grow your metalworking confidence in no time. Even if you start the class as a total amateur who doesn’t know their snips from their scissors, by the time you finish you’ll be creating metal masterpieces for your toolbox, home and garden!

What to expect at metalwork classes for beginners

Think metalworking and blacksmithing just means getting filthy at a forge and crafting around a fire? Think again! Although some of our metalwork classes are hosted in the great outdoors, not every work of art is created in the heat of flames. If you don’t fancy hammer making or sword crafting, you could opt to stay warm at an indoor workshop, where you’ll learn to make personalised wire wall art, delicate wire garden sculptures or metal wall hangings that will add interest to any space. The list is endless!

Wherever you are in the UK, and whatever metalwork class you choose to embark on, your crafty experience will begin the same way – with a super warm welcome from your talented teacher and an introduction to the wonderful world of metal art or wire sculpture. You’ll be introduced to a range of metalwork tools, and will learn how to use everything safely, from tiny tin snips for clipping delicate wire to specialised blacksmith tongs for plunging your creations into the flames as you shape them. Your instructor will then give you a full demonstration of the metalwork project you’ve chosen, then it’ll be time for you to roll up those sleeves, strap on an apron and get ready to craft! Your teacher will stay close by for the whole experience, so you won’t need to worry about burns, breakages or blacksmithing disasters. You’ll be in safe hands – and so will your metal creations!

UK metalwork classes are great for your wellbeing

While getting to grips with metal at a blacksmithing class might not seem like the most obvious way to relax, it’s actually a great way to switch off and unwind – after all, what’s more soothing than getting cosy (and you’ll definitely be cosy around the forge flames!) and immersing yourself in a brand new craft or hobby? If you’ve been feeling super stressed, working too hard or the daily grind has ground you down, trust us when we say – metalwork classes or wire art courses could be just what you need!

Studies have shown that learning a new skill or taking on a fresh hobby is great for both physical and mental wellbeing; it can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve concentration and boost mood. Plus, enrolling in a craft class gives you the chance to get social and connect with other like-minded creatives, swap ideas and inspire each other. Sounds great, right? Whether you’re going big with a knife making course or hammer making class, or keeping it low key with a wonderful metal wall hanging workshop, getting absorbed in learning exciting fresh craft techniques will almost definitely leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, and ready to take on anything!
