A fantastic, practical, hands-on one day course to get you feeling more confident in working with metal. You will learn about marking out, cutting and you will construct your own personal tool box to take home.
During the workshop, you'll learn:
How to assemble a basic, useful toolkit for metal work projects
How to use and care for them – “the right tool for the right job”
Fundamental techniques in metal craft
How to make a Toolbox
What will I do?
Measuring, marking out and cutting materials.
Drilling, punching, spot welding.
Understanding of screws and glues.
Bending metals and constructing
You will learn to use these in a safe and efficient way to create your own handy Toolbox to take away
Whether you're just starting out on your creative journey or you're moving into an unfamiliar medium, your tutor will be on hand throughout to offer you advice, tips and a helping hand where needed. You'll leave the workshop with your amazing new toolbox as well as your newfound knowledge on how to use your chosen tools to best effect.
Please note: The stated class duration includes a one-hour break for lunch.

London Sculpture Workshop is an independent sculpture studio in Woolwich, South East London, located within Thames Side Studios, offering exceptional facilities for artists and those interested in making three-dimensional work.
Our short course programme covers a wide variety of technical and skill-based processes, taught by practising artists in superbly equipped workshops. We teach a range of skills including welding, casting, mould making, metal and woodwork, ceramics and hot metal practices.
London Sculpture Workshop is a not-for-profit, community interested company, established in 2012 by artists Giles Corby and Jessica Mello, trained at Royal College of Art and Slade. LSW has partnered with a number of prestigious organisations including; The British Museum, The Crafts Council, CRISIS, The Architecture Association and Oxford Brooke's University. In 2013 and 2014 LSW was awarded the Chelsea Arts Club Trust ‘Artist Run Space Award’ and awarded a grant for our work from the Mayor of London in 2016.
