What you'll do
If you're looking for something a bit more interesting to decorate your space than a mass-produced canvas, come along to this two-day sculpture course where you'll learn to use steel rods to create a unique piece of art.
Hosted by an experienced metal artist, the course will cover the techniques of bending, cutting, grinding, rolling and shaping steel rods. You'll also get to try your hand at MIG welding, with all the necessary materials and equipment ready and waiting for you.
Group sizes are small, so you'll enjoy one-to-one tuition as your friendly instructor takes you through all the techniques and tools in a series of informative demonstrations. It'll then be your turn to get hands-on as you start to create a sculpture to express your creativity.
Along with the practical aspects of working with steel, you'll also discuss light, projections and shadows to really make your sculpture stand out. You'll complete your final piece by learning a host of finishing techniques to add that personal flourish.
Whether you're an artist looking to branch out into a new discipline or you're just getting started on your journey, you'll love working with your hands at this fun and unique two-day London art course.

No sculpture experience is required - this course is suitable for beginners or those who have already attended a previous Drawing with Steel course.

Silvina Soria
Silvina obtained her degree as Sculpture Professor at The Fine Arts School Prilidiano Pueyrredon in 2002. After specialising in welding and blacksmithing, she obtained a master in Contemporary Sculpture at Ernesto de la Carcova Postgraduate School, both in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

London Sculpture Workshop is an independent sculpture studio in Woolwich, South East London, located within Thames Side Studios, offering exceptional facilities for artists and those interested in making three-dimensional work.
Our short course programme covers a wide variety of technical and skill-based processes, taught by practising artists in superbly equipped workshops. We teach a range of skills including welding, casting, mould making, metal and woodwork, ceramics and hot metal practices.
London Sculpture Workshop is a not-for-profit, community interested company, established in 2012 by artists Giles Corby and Jessica Mello, trained at Royal College of Art and Slade. LSW has partnered with a number of prestigious organisations including; The British Museum, The Crafts Council, CRISIS, The Architecture Association and Oxford Brooke's University. In 2013 and 2014 LSW was awarded the Chelsea Arts Club Trust ‘Artist Run Space Award’ and awarded a grant for our work from the Mayor of London in 2016.
