What you'll do
2024 is the Year of the Dragon according to the Chinese Zodiac. A different animal is assigned to each year in a 12-year cycle. The cycle is based on a legend about the Jade Emperor who invited animals to a race, and the order in which they finished determined their position in the zodiac.
In this class, we will make a hanging dragon, similar to the one in the photo above, but using fabric and embroidery. You will be taught how to sew, embroider, add a tassel, and anything else needed so that you can create a lovely hanging decoration to either take home for luck or give to a friend or family.
Chinese New Year falls on Saturday, 10th February, so you will have your dragon ready for the New Year festivities.
This is a fun and engaging class with an experienced artist and art teacher. Not only will you learn some new techniques, but you will also have time to relax and forget the daily stresses and strains.
There are three classes listed, one is for one hour at Bird & Blend, Borough Market and the other two are for two hours (same price) in Borough, 5 minutes from Borough Market.
There is the option at checkout to buy extras that relate to this class so that you can continue to sew and make more at home after the workshop has taken place. These can also be purchased on the day with cash but please let me know in advance so that I bring them with me. Please also ask if you would like to know what is included in the sewing kits etc.
