What you'll do
Ditch the ready-made rugs and learn how to make your own stunning piece of DIY home decor with this two-day rug tufting workshop in Salford!
Perfect for beginners and those with a little more textile experience, this craft course will help you dive right into making a large 1.2 metre squared, custom hand-tufted rug with a design of your choice.
You’ll learn advanced tufting techniques and have lots of room to be bold or experimental with your rug, using up to twelve yarn colours to create a unique piece of textile art to display.
If you're searching for fun craft classes to try with a friend or need handmade gifts for your nearest and dearest, why not come and get creative in an inspiring space? Your teacher will provide cut pile and loop pile electric tufting guns, but you can also try a pneumatic tufting gun to achieve dramatic textures and long pile heights in your rug.
You'll finish this two-day tufting course with boosted confidence in your abilities and your one-of-a-kind rug to take home!
Please note:
- You must be at least 18 years of age to attend this course.
- Yarn colours can be requested in advance so you have all the desired colours ready to use.
- Please send your design ideas up to three days before your workshop to allow for preparation. If you have a design in mind, emailing your teacher with the image will ensure the yarn colours you’d like to use are in stock.

Your teacher
Manchester Tufting Workshops was established in 2020, with the goal of publicly teaching the fascinating art of rug tufting without needing to undergo a degree. At the time, the only way to learn tufting from someone knowledgeable was through a university setting. I wanted to create a more accessible way of learning that was open to everyone with any skill level. Especially since I learn best in-person and because I was taught by a wonderful textile tutor, it was important to me to foster the right atmosphere to inspire others.
I have over 6 years of experience with electric and pneumatic tufting equipment, beginning my journey in 2016 whilst studying visual arts at the University of Salford.
