What you'll do
Learn how to design and create your own custom rug at this fun, all-day tufting class in Salford!
This rugmaking workshop will teach you all you need to know about tufting and is sure to inspire confidence in your abilities to make beautiful objects.
Connect with an experienced teacher and spend the day making a one-of-a-kind 70x70cm rug with a design of your choice. You'll get all the materials and equipment, including a projector, so you get an accurate and sleek template to tuft into using up to six vibrant yarn colours.
Whether you're new to the world of textile art or you're looking to expand into exciting new mediums, this hands-on workshop is a must-try for any skill level. You can even bring along a partner and discover new DIY projects to enjoy together — rug tufting is one of the best experience gifts for creative couples!
At the end of this fun exploration into the world of tufting, you'll have your beautiful bespoke rug ready to take home and a unique skill you can continue developing in your own time.

- You must be at least 18 years of age to attend this class.
- Yarn colours can be requested in advance so you have all the desired colours ready to use.
- Please send your design ideas up to three days before your workshop to allow for preparation. If you have a design in mind, emailing your teacher with the image will ensure the yarn colours you’d like to use are in stock.

Your teacher
Manchester Tufting Workshops was established in 2020, with the goal of publicly teaching the fascinating art of rug tufting without needing to undergo a degree. At the time, the only way to learn tufting from someone knowledgeable was through a university setting. I wanted to create a more accessible way of learning that was open to everyone with any skill level. Especially since I learn best in-person and because I was taught by a wonderful textile tutor, it was important to me to foster the right atmosphere to inspire others.
I have over 6 years of experience with electric and pneumatic tufting equipment, beginning my journey in 2016 whilst studying visual arts at the University of Salford.
